I prefer it to the Diplomaticos and the Zacapa Negro at around $42.00 a bottle at ABC liquor here in Fla. 1
JC67 Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 If you drink it straight, its Diplomatico Reserva for mine. 1
Fuzz Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Zacapa XO for a sipping rum, Zacapa 23 for a mixer/every day rum. El Dorado 12yr old is also a nice every day rum. Captain Morgan is a fantastic rum to serve... when you want your guests to leave! 1
Cubadust Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 I don't get Zacapa 23, it taste kind of like a cheap cognac to me and not really rum-like at all. My favorite right now is the Dos Maderas PX 5x5 from Spain.
Chris P. Bacon Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Great discussion topic! I swap between rye and rum and drink them neat. Currently, these are the bottles I'm working through: • Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva • Diplomatico Single Vintage 2002 • Foursquare Premise • Bacardi Gran Reserva Diez I've been reaching more for either the Diplomatico Reserva or Bacardi 10. To me, they have the classic rum flavors. The others have too much hardwood flavors to the point they seem like a bourbon.
gorob23 Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 I have had most of what's been posted and tried a few ( Ok more than a few) of may other kind. The "Hands Down" best I have ever had is Centenario 25 I tried it blind one day, then went back and bought their remaining 3 bottles. They also make a 30 that is more expensive but I prefer the 25. just my .02 worth here.. Rob 1 1
Habana Mike Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Came across this 12yo Foursquare. Cask strength at 118 proof. Drinks more like a Bourbon, aged in ex-bourbon casks and at that ABV so no wonder. Still not overly hot and the rum essence is present. Back label claims no sugar or other additives. Recommended! 1

pedro849 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Can’t go wrong with any of the FourSquare Exceptional Cask Selections, full of flavor and drinks like a bourbon 1 2
