Bijan Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I've started using bigger punches this year. I used to use my lighter's 8mm punch and used multiple punches for bigger cigars. Then went to a colibri 7-9-12mm and using 9 for middle gauge cigars and 12 for heavy gauge. I'm now using a xikar 11mm for 40-42mm. And 12mm for 46+ RG. I currently have 6-7-8-9-10-11-12-14mm. Haven't smoke anything bigger than 46RG since getting the 14mm but I expect to use it on 48 or 49+. So far I think I'm going with: 7mm for 30RG 11mm for 40-42 12mm for 46-48 14mm for 49+ I'll have to see what works best for 32-38RG and 44RG. What's everyone else doing? 2
Arctic Dude Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I have a Colibri Quasar Punch and it meets most of my needs. It’s basically my go-to cutter, and I’ve been quite happy with it; sharp and reliable. 1
MrBirdman Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 @Bijan I've been thinking about getting a 14mm, do you have a recommendation?

Fosgate Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I had a creedo 3 punch size that folded up and fit nicely in the pocket and had a nice polished stainless steel lanyard to hook it to my keychain and was always in my pocket. It worked perfect for about 6 months but then it seemed one of the folding sides hinge became worn and it would not stay folded. I would remove it from my pocket and one side would be unfolded, exposing two blades and creating nicks in the blade from my keys. I currenlty use a Pardo 4 in 1 that has a large and small punch, one on each end. 1

Yes, I got the Credo 3-in-1 Punch Cutter in late 2015, early 2016. I'm still very happy with it. I was so impressed I wrote an appreciation review on the product... https://www.credohumidifiers.com/credo-3-in-1-punch-cutter-titanium-square-p/cac-14cpt.htm 3

Edit: it seems pretty secure when folded. 2
Fosgate Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I'd suggest don't attach it to your keychain or put it in your pocket daily. It is a good cutter overall and fits in the kit nicely. 2
targa88 Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 11mm twist punch from Xikar - kind of covers all bases. Only issue is that it doesn't stay sharp after a number of years. Bit of a challenge re-honing it.

But probably need a smaller one for anything 38RG-. I'm not a big stickler for sharpness. I'll be happy as long as it doesn't get so dull it won't work anymore.
Bijan Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Quick update, the 11mm punch works on 38RG cigars, but just barely. So pretty handy. Curious about those 26 RG Laguito No. 3s. I'm guessing 6 or 7 mm should work there (maybe 8mm), but I've never tried it out. 1
