If I remember correctly, that is the year Bill Graham came down on the giant egg, as Father Time? Hard to remember that far back, lol, 30 years ago, though Bill Graham was Father Time every New Years. I hated they would resell the tickets at the Oakland Auditorium, so they wouldn't give you the ticket stub when you entered. Made for VERY crowded shows too, but so great to be there back in the day! Just re-watched the Closing of Winterland 78-79 with a 19 minute Not Fade Away with John Cipollina, just great music. Cheers and Happy New Year! Bret 1

He came down out of the sky at midnight every year, but I remember it being a different theme each year. I vaguely remember him coming out of the sky, in a giant, lit joint one year. Then the year with the egg, he was Father Time, and Baby New Year hatched from the egg. Closing of Winterland was before my time. I was only 10. But I have heard the tapes. Amazing stuff.
Popular Post TobaccoRoad Posted January 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2021 First cigar of the New Year Punch Churchill OCT 00. Trying to start 2021 out on the right foot... 7
Popular Post saltbox Posted January 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2021 Spent a nice night in last night, cooking up some steak, asparagas, brussel sprouts, and hasselback potato. Skipped the champagne and cracked open a gifted bottle of Uncle Nearest and watched and listened to all the legal and illegal fireworks in San Francisco. Beautiful day today, decided to start the year with the H. Upmann Propio from the Christmas sampler. 6
Popular Post Habana Mike Posted January 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2021 Prepped and ready with an A and a Grand Cuvée. Happy new year all! 8

Yeah, pretty much. Over the years, Bill rode in over the crowd on that massive joint, a magic mushroom, a lightning bolt, a huge birthday cake celebrating the Grateful Dead’s twentieth anniversary, a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge, and a giant mirror ball. I was 18 for that '78 show, I remember listening the the simulcast on KSAN radio and watching the PBS show live -- I couldn't get tickets, but my buddy went.
Popular Post ayedfy Posted January 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2021 On top of everything else, 2020 was the first time in about eight or nine years that I didn't have a cigar all year. Here's hoping the Doc gives me the all clear to break the drought in 2021. But I got to cherish NYE with the ones I love. Happy new year all! 6

Giving my wrists a much need rest after removing 500 pounds of plaster and putting up 500 pounds more. Here's hoping the base coat dries by Easter so I can put up the veneer coat before Spring. 8
Popular Post sho671 Posted January 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2021 Happy New Year. I did some grilling, had dinner, built a fire in the grill and smoked a Saints and Sinners exclusive No 1. 7
Popular Post Chucko8 Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 Relatively quiet one this year. Happy NYE all! 7
Popular Post StogieSteve23 Posted January 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2021 Hope everyone had a wonderful NYE and NYD! Enjoyed a low key NYE with the lady and my aunt at our family's cabin in the Adirondacks. Her first time there after us being together for 10 years and my first time being back in over 6 years now. Only a couple sticks smoked on the trip, but had a delicious meal at one of our favorite restaurants. Lobster bisque and crab cake appetizer with a scrumptious "Adirondack Guide Platter" of pan fried trout, roast duck with Lingonberry glaze and a venison chop. 5
La_Tigre Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Happy belated new year all. We spent the night at work and had some fun with coworkers in spite of it all. 1
