Popular Post BTWheezy Posted April 11, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted April 11, 2021 Saturday update... 1. Getting the lines of the top figured out...thickness, overhand, etc. Mrs. Wheezy has a great eye for this stuff, so she provided a “consult” this morning. We were on the same page. 😎 2. Prepping drawer front lumber. 3. Trimming to length. Final trim will be tomorrow. 4. Prepping lumber for top. Had to re-saw a bunch of 8/4 lumber (2” thick stuff) down to 3/4”, and trim to width for uniformity. #mathstrikesagain 5. Glue up of panels. Doing 2 separate glue-ups of 12.5” each so I can run them through my planer before final assembly of the 25” wide top. My planer can handle 13.5”, so all good. 6. Trimmed side posts to length, committed to final dimensions of top. 7. Very rough idea of what it’s going to look like. 9
Rhinoww Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Looks great. You are making some serious progress. 1
Popular Post BTWheezy Posted April 12, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted April 12, 2021 Sunday update...and yes @Rhinoww, made good progress this weekend. Main elements of construction are done, as I completed the top today. 🤟🏼🍻 1. Drawer divider trim pieces installed. 2. Top panels ran through the planer, then sanded and ready for glue-up. 3, 4, 5. Top finished, drawer fronts trimmed to fit, no more blue tape! @NicPac is coming over tomorrow to check progress, and to discuss finish options and hardware choices. Very happy how this is coming together! 12
Popular Post BTWheezy Posted April 25, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted April 25, 2021 Time for finish. Using Minwax satin water-based polyurethane, as mentioned previously. Zero odor, easy clean-up, fast drying. It’s a win. Also figured out how I wanted to attach the top (from the bottom). This actually took a long time to figure out because I couldn’t drill holes with it resting in place (no clearance for the drill). It’s hard to explain why it was a b*tch, but it came out perfectly. Much happiness! 18
Popular Post BTWheezy Posted April 25, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted April 25, 2021 And a short close-up video of the drawer fronts and soft-close action. Came out nicely! 10
Meklown Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Great work! Loved following this and the original wheezycab. One question that I may have missed in your descriptions (apologise if so), how do you ensure that the cab is airtight when the drawers / doors are closed?

I use rubber weather stripping, the kind of stuff you use to seal doors or windows. The stripping comes in many different sizes and shapes, too. Here’s but one example. 4 1

Broseph, you sure you just don’t have your browser settings to auto clear history/cache? I mean, not there aren’t reasons to turn that feature on. 😀 1

I have enough trouble getting my email to work with Outlook 🤦🏼 I looked on the setting on my iPhone and didn’t see an auto clear history/cache option. 1

Popular Post BTWheezy Posted June 13, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted June 13, 2021 Oh, hi guys! 👋🏼 Been quite a while since the last update. Work and family have been the culprits, but also just haven’t updated the smaller bits of progress, mostly because I’ve been lazy. The good news is that I’m on the home stretch now. Today I got the weatherstripping applied, and I’m really happy with the seal. 🦭 1. Hardware received. @NicPac got it from some artisan dude on Etsy, I think? Really cool work, IMHO! 2. Centering guide for hardware. 3. Holes drilled. 4. Top securely attached. Like Cat 5 hurricane securely attached. 5. Weatherstripping applied. A good seal, as mentioned above. I’ve come to realize that my humidors aren’t air-tight, but short of a refrigerator-style humidor, most wooden humidors probably aren't anyway. 6. Male side of the ball catch. 7. Female side. 8. Drawers with hardware. 9. Getting close! I sure hope @NicPac still wants this! If not, I’ll have to figure out Plan B! 13
Chibearsv Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 Oh I think there’d be plenty of plan B buyers. Looks great. 2
NicPac Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Naw I’m good. I think I’ll stick with my coolers and storage boxes 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Can’t wait to fill that beautiful thing up! You the man @BTWheezy!! 2 1
Popular Post BTWheezy Posted July 28, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted July 28, 2021 Today is the day…it’s been a long ride, but NicPac Cab is off! Soon to be filled to the gills, I’m sure! Next pics will come from @NicPac, showing off the new home! Thanks for following! Wheezy 13 2
