Popular Post Webbo Posted December 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2020 (edited) I was passed these 3 boxes of cigars today that were found in a barn by an old local guy who gifted them to me. Can anyone throw any light on them? They are in remarkable condition (especially the Partagas), although some slight mould on the feet of some of the others. EDIT - they were literally just left lying around all these years with no humidification, that they were sealed and/or in tubes has helped and the barn is in the UK so not super dry. The cigars smell ok and have a little give to them, certainly not dried out. I have put each box in a sealed bag with a 65rh boveda. Is this the right thing? also I am m assuming beetles wont be an issue after so long either? Edited December 23, 2020 by Webbo additional questions 21
Popular Post Nino Posted December 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2020 Great find, congrats !! They do look remarkably well kept and in excellent condition. I'd say early 70's from a Spanish store/bought in Spain. Enjoy ! 5
La_Tigre Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Very nice find! Those Habaneros look especially tempting! 1
WABOOM Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 That is awesome. I would have blazed up one those RJ tubos immediately. 1

I might look to sell the Partagas (if they are worth anything, have no idea) and give the money to the old guy as I think he is down on his luck. The others I think i will try. 8

They seem like they have just come out of a humidor. I think they have been in a dark, cool cupboard in the outside barn. Going to have a closer look in the next few days and will post some photos if anyone would like.

Should be an easy sell! 1
Popular Post Webbo Posted December 24, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted December 24, 2020 I wonder if Bond Roberts would be a good starting place to sell? in the section cigar source it would be "Yorkshire Barn". "storage conditions would be "well we had a hot summer in 1976 and 1987 winter was a bit nippy"? 2 1 8
Popular Post Bri Fi Posted December 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2020 Isn’t it amazing we can spend so much money trying to maintain our cigars in perfect conditions and in some climates they’ll do just fine in a barn cabinet for 40 years. Makes you want to throw the book out. Some amazing treasures out there yet to be found. This is exciting 9

I am sure my cigars and boxes will be as pristine and well maintained long after I'm gone just by being kept in steel lockers in a cellar with no humidification or anything fancy at all. Happy to have a moderate climate and good building standards/cellars/barns. 4

Ironically I am sure my small humidor in my Düsseldorf apartment (in the top floor under the roof) near my company which I have not been able to visit for 6 months will contain all my cigars there now as dry as a Tutankhamun’s athletic support. 2
Sandman Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Don’t assume on the beetles. I had a box of 70’s Monte 4’s that i found a live beetle in. The only time I’ve ever seen a beetle out of literally thousands upon thousands of cigars. 1

You may be right to be concerned - top floor under the roof is a recipe for dry cigars .... ? 1
