Popular Post saltbox Posted December 9, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2020 Smoked this a couple nights ago. Stored at 62RH w/ Boveda packs, just under 2 months of rest since receiving it. Have a few boxes of Cohiba that have been resting but this'll be my first experience with the marca. My first FOH purchase was a box of Cohiba Robusto ASR DIC 17, and I'll probably be dipping into that box soon to compare what 1 vs. 3 years of age smokes like on these. First third: Draw is a bit loose. Opens up with some bitterness and harshness, but underneath that harshness there are some nice flavors of sweet milky coffee and dry grass. After a few puffs, the bitterness fades but the harshness remains, though some vanilla notes appear alongside a light floral sweetness. Middle third: The harshness is now hitting the back of the throat a bit, but there's still that nice sweet milk coffee and grassiness. Halfway through the cigar, the harshness fades into an upfront woody, oak-like tannic flavor. With every puff, I get that upfront, but as it fades there's some dry nuttiness and the same milk coffee and grass from before. Last third: Some creaminess slowly starts to appear, but otherwise more of the same through to the nub. Overall: Not experienced enough with Cubans to say for sure but my guess is this cigar was well before its prime, and possibly underfilled in the first half. I didn't hate it, but it was an underwhelming first experience with Cohiba. Hopefully with some more age my mind will be changed, and I'm looking forward to dipping into the 3 year old box to compare. 85/100 7
