One of the tough things about judging cigars is the extraordinary variation that bedevils attempts to do so. It is why that one should smoke as many examples of any particular cigar as possible before giving judgement. Of course, when Rob and I do our videos, we do exactly the opposite. We might, in some cases and more often Rob than myself, be able to bring past experience of a cigar to the table to provide a basis for comparison. But sometimes, it will be the first time either of us will have seen a cigar. Should we really be making definitive judgements based on that?

I've had 2 so far and the first one I had was amazing and the second was good but not as great as the first, they were from 2 different boxes and I've got a box aging before i try more.

I'm hoping the box i have is one of the better ones but let's find out.

Smoking one as I type this. It is the 6th stick from this box. The flavors and evolution are there, but the units in this box have all been underfilled, necessitating smoking faster than I would like, and requiring frequent touch-ups. The faster smoking builds too much heat in the final 3rd. 

Disappointing when held up to the rave review, but still smokeable. I have a few more boxes that will sleep for a few years.

Slightly off-topic, but probably not worth an extra thread (perhaps it is?). What’s going on on Fraser, Ken? Seems a real tragedy, as from what’s being heard?

fraser is a tragedy and typical government mindless incompetence. the fires were burning when we were there back in october and nothing was being done. people were apparently keeping an eye on things as they burnt happily. you could see the flames soaring. 

the govt did nothing. they have the big water bombers but took 30 days to get them going. way too late. but why do anything? it is only a world heritage area! has destroyed so much of the island. told our lodge is okay. lucky.

Shit, that’s what I was wondering when in the news they were speaking of fires „for weeks“ now. Thanks for the info. Let’s hope they’re getting it under control! But seems a lot is lost for good already.

Have to agree, complete govt incompetence, especially after the last bushfire season.
