Popular Post Bijan Posted December 4, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2020 Cigar a little under official weight. Draw is good with 12mm punch. Cigar smells and predraw of barnyard. First third: Lights up chocolate and coffee. Pepper on retrohale. Continues coffee in the middle of this third and then chocolate towards the end. Second third: Pepper is replaced by cinnamon. Mainly chocolate. Chocolate dies down towards the maduro 1 band as the wrapper goes out, touch the wrapper up and chocolate comes back. Final third: Nutmeg now with the cinnamon, and a creamy nutty flavour on the draw. Continues with some chocolate until the end when I get a clear tobacco flavour. About one hour smoke time. I'd rate this 4/5 quite strong. Still about 3C/37F outside, but most of the snow has melted due to the rain so it feels warmer psychologically. Humidity was pretty high, maybe 90%. 20
moneyneversleeps Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I was lucky enough to get the sampler as well but haven't tried any. New to cuban cigars. Do you see this cigar improving significantly with age or just a little? I guess what I am asking is should i smoke now or is it worth waiting?? Thanks.
Bijan Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 @moneyneversleeps they'll improve from short term resting up to 90 days. And some more resting aging for 6 months to 2 years might help a bit more. For long term aging you can go 3, 5 or even 10 years depending on the cigar. It is @JohnS rule of thumb that chocolate/cocoa cigars do well in the 3-5 year range and don't benefit from more aging. On a practical note we only have one of each of the sampler cigars so there's no way to sample each kind periodically and decide when they are most ready. Also unless you have other cigars to smoke in the meantime it can be tough to wait even if you can figure out the perfect rest time. 2 2
PuroDiario Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Thanks for the review. I have only smoked one of these. It was August back home in Spain after a big meal seating outside with a drink. I found it very filling and satisfying, similar to you on tasting notes. I think Genios are superior, but really liked these too. 1
dominattorney Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 @Bijan, would you buy a box? I've been wondering about this stick for a while now and it doesn't get reviewed often. Do you know how they compare to the Cohiba Genios? I love that smoke but sticker shock prevents me from going deep. 1
Bijan Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 @dominattorney I'd probably say yes on getting a box but I've completely forgot how much they're going for. I'd definitely get a quarter box. Edit: I haven't had a Cohiba Genios yet. 2

I remember 2-3 years ago they wouldn’t sell out, CC purist didn’t wanna touch the maduro CCs. Prez was basically giving these away at like low 2s 230-240ish a box. I have a box of 17s I picked up in Cuba and they are smoking wonderfully now. For the value Maddy 1 could take the genios IMO. Especially at the severely inflated cohiba prices now. Tried and loved the Secretos, balked at the price of the Genios, figured the Maduro 1s would be a good value alternative so went in on a 24:24 box. 1
NSXCIGAR Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 So this one comes out on top for the Xmas sampler? Impressive. Not a lot of tasting notes on it...
Bijan Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Just now, NSXCIGAR said: So this one comes out on top for the Xmas sampler? Impressive. Not a lot of tasting notes on it... Second place after the Supremos.
