Popular Post Sir Diggamus Posted December 1, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 1, 2020 I had a little more time than usual yesterday for a smoke so I grabbed this no.1 and a cup of Ruby Oolong and settled in with some football for the afternoon. The cigar has a strong box press with nice oily scheen on the wrapper. There was no discernible pre-light aroma. Once I clipped and lit the cigar it started off with the perfect draw and nice coffee flavor with cocoa notes on the finish. As the first third went on the flavors stayed mostly the same with a mild sweetness growing until the end of the 1/3. The second third saw the coffee note blend with the cocoa to be that "Monte mocha" note present in the marca. A nice cream note develops too and mixes with everything else just fine. The burn and draw was very good, although I kept having to relight the cigar. Into the last third the chocolate flavor gets richer and sweeter and the coffee notes fade away. A cookie/baked good note comes in too, I wanted to call it graham cracker at first but it was definitely something different, maybe shortbread. These notes rearrange with coffee coming back in and out. It is like dessert in the perfect spot, right at the end This cigar was very enjoyable and straightforward in the first half, and much more nuanced and complex in the second half. 91 Points 6
Kaptain Karl Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I have the same box, seems like they're opening up! 1
Connoisseur Kim Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Super cool Lonsdale indeed! I really like the flavor profile of this Montecristo buddy ? 1
