Two of my three helping to cook at our place in the Laurel Highlands.  The third is in Covid Isolation at school, home today. No picture of the food.  Rack of Lamb, Au Gratin Potatoes,  Spinach with garlic and roasted Cipollini onions.  Apple pie for desert.  Pinot Noir cooking and Cab with dinner.

Hope all had a great holiday we kept is semi small in case my mayor is checking in ... so much to be thankful for even with all that  is going on. We have our heath, attitude, family, friends, faith, 14 month old son and a chance to make improvements !

I always wanted to fry a turkey, but I didn't want to be one of those idiots that lights his house (or worse) on fire.  A friend told me about an electric turkey fryer that he uses.  It is still a deep fryer that you fill with oil, but it has an electric heating element at the bottom of the tank, inside the oil, instead of propane and a flame, so you can even use it indoors.  Since there is no flame, even if the oil pours out the sides, it cant catch on fire.

So I fried a turkey for the first time ever tonight.  It was a huge hit.  It tasted much better than turkey was ever supposed to taste.  The whole family loved it.

This year's Thanksgiving was a little non-traditional. With everything going on and in an attempt to be socially responsible, I didn't travel home for the holidays but did end up doing a Friendsgiving with small group of people. Instead of a turkey, we did a pig roast. I failed to snap a pic of the entire spread, but here's the piggy:
