So the current weekend review competition got me thinking (a rare feat for me).....

What are some current regular production smokes that you think could be up next on the chopping block?

Based on availability, I would say Partagas 898 is close to going the way of the mammoth.

What a shame.

I'm assuming they'll give a big middle finger by cutting every dalia in production so they can repurpose that tobacco for ELs that cost 4 times as much and those that buy them can calm their remorse by telling themselves (and everyone else), "Well they're still really young.  Can't wait to try them in a few more years."

I don't see too many more cut at this point. Some of these brands are pretty barren at this point. Maybe the SPNP, Party 898. Some of the smaller offerings from the Global Brands could always be cut without too much trouble. Wouldn't mourn the loss of RyJ Regalias de Londres or Party Habaneros for example.

LGC, Dip, SLR, Sanchos hanging on by a thread....

I think the plan has been to keep these brands at one or two models and go heavy on ERs. The only oddball regular production model of those is the LGC MdO4 but with that being the only model it likely won't get cut until they insert another. Not sure what the plan for the new LGC Sublimes is but it could replace the MdO4, although the MdO4 does sell and get scarce over 18 mos. It is an odd choice for a brand's only model though.

That plastic surgery did not work out Ray...

Bolivar Corona Gigantes is one I’m afraid might be a goner.  Haven’t seen one anywhere in a couple years it seems.  Shame I liked those.

To be honest R&J could use a haircut, and Partagas could chop a couple of their minutos offerings.  Just seems weird where there’s holes in some places and in other places it’s utter redundancy.

But... if they are all selling than that’s what matters.  I only know what I buy and hear what you all mention so this is probably a better question for @Elpresidente

Man, I hate to be the one to break this to you, but BCG have been discontinued since 2017.

I knew you went Hollywood on us. It was just a matter of time. Say hi to the Kardashians for me. You now look like one of the sisters. I forget which one. Bruce?

By the way, what the hell is that on that hat? Ken as Burgess Meredith's Penguin with a Mickey Mouse hand?

They sell a crapload of those small Partagas and RyJ at Duty Frees, airports and small retailers. There were triple that number of models, half machine made, before 2002. They've already trimmed about 2/3 of the models in both lines. Not that a few more couldn't go, but I think if they were going to cut Partagas Habaneros or RyJ RdL they'd have already done so. Maybe RyJ Romeo No. 1 gets cut but those Romeo 1-3 just sell crazy numbers worldwide, even the 1.

I really don't know what's left to cut with a handful of brands down to one model.

That is the old FoH ‘taboo’ hat. Apparently Sir Winston’s family was not in favor of him being put on a hat. Ask Bwanna!

I think it might have been more about potentially confusing him with Ken.

Yeah, I agree.  Although you did kinda Washington Post me and take part of what I said out of context.  My next statement was that I don’t know about sales of individual models and if they are selling so be it.  I was speaking from redundancy of sizes/marcas standpoint as only place I could consider removing if I had to cut which is what the OP asked.
