More good news on vaccine front, the Oxford trials have come in at 90% effective and only need regular refrigeration, cost has come in at £3 a dose too compared to £28 for the Moderna and £15 for the pfizer so should be a big help for poorer countries and those with hot climates

Possible exit strategy on the cards now hopefully

Excellent news, been following it on BBC.

If we get over the winter safely I can see us throwing away the masks by 3rd/4rth quarter of 21 and going back to being sane.

Vaccination centers are being prepared here in Germany.

Those field hospitals you mentioned, were made available so non-covid patients would have somewhere to go because the actual hospitals were filled with covid patients.  The actual hospitals were overw

I remember reading tweets and seeing pictures of relatively empty hospital parking lots, "So how could they be overrun if there are so few cars in the parking lots?"  Our hospital was overrun at

I got an email about a week ago that said that we would have the vaccine by late November-early December, and they wanted to know if I would be willing to get it when it comes in.  I said yes.  I figu

Heard that 2 shots are required; the first dose is actually a half dose, with a full dose a month later, for it to be 90% effective.

I think all are 2 dose vaccines.  Pfizer and Moderna are 2 full doses, cost more and require stricter storage conditions, Pfizer’s requires -70 C or something bonkers.  AZ is cheaper and lives longer under refrigeration which is key for 3rd world/emerging countries.

"The Covid vaccine developed in the UK by Oxford University and AstraZeneca can protect 70.4% of people from becoming ill and – in a surprise result – up to 90% if a lower first dose is used, results from the final trial show."

I think all 3 vaccines we have so far are requiring two injections at least 28 days apart

Something hit the news yesterday which is sounding good too, a new cocktail of antibodies has just started trials that will be able to be given to people who are too frail to be given any vaccines bite will give the fans protection, I think it's the start of a year-long trial though. Supposedly it would work for everyone and extremely well but it's very intensive to make; if all the Worlds labs with the ability to produce it worked for a full year it would only be able to make enough to cover 60 milion people. Still great news though

The medical jump from this year will have huge ramifications, it's just sad that these jumps forward usually only occur during times of upheaval and loss
