Popular Post maverickdrinker Posted October 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted October 23, 2020 The wrapper is a deeply rich chestnut hue. Red streaks throughout the cigar. Rustic and toothy to the touch. Construction is excellent. Firm throughout the cigar with a slight give when squeezed. The pig tailed triple cap is expertly applied and the foot is packed with Cuban goodness. Aromas of barnyard, expresso, grassy notes and a touch of molasses emanate from the wrapper. A quick twist from my Siglo multi punch and we are ready for action. The draw is perfect. Nice airflow with a slight resistance. Eucalyptus, earth, leather, molasses and a touch of cream and grassy notes come from the cold draw. First ThirdOh boy. I like I’m gonna like this one... Crisp layers of eucalyptus, cocoa, earth, leather, cedar and touches of grassy notes and molasses to start us on our journey. Strength is at a medium bodied level with no harshness to speak of. The retrohale is brimming with Cuban goodness. Eucalyptus, cedar, earth, leather and a touch of grassy notes move luxuriously through the nasal passages. Wonderful. The after finish shows nice complexity and an assortment of flavours. Eucalyptus l, cedar, earth, leather and grassy notes lead the way. Small accents of oolong tea, molasses and cinnamon on the back end. The flavours are expansive on the palate due to the medium bodied strength level. A glorious way to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. Second ThirdThings have mellowed out a bit. Strength on the lower end of medium bodied. Flavours aren’t as crisp. Cocoa, cedar and grassy notes are accented by eucalyptus, earth and leather as they move through the nasal passages. The after finish has also tamed down. It’s like someone turned down the volume on a good song. Flavours are present but muted. Cocoa, leather, earth and grassy notes evolve to eucalyptus, molasses and cinnamon. Need to turn up the volume in the last third.... Final ThirdEarth and cocoa start to separate themselves from the crowd. Leather, grassy notes and a touch of eucalyptus join them as they move through the nasal passages. Strength continues to be at the lower end of medium bodied. The after finish is fleeting due to the lack of strength. Need more oomph to support the flavours. Earth, leather, cocoa, grassy notes and eucalyptus lead the way. Meek support from cinnamon while molasses makes an early exist. Seems liked missed potential. Final ImpressionsI hate to admit it but this did nothing live up to expectations. Was hoping to have a similar experience to the 2011 Edicion Limitada Cohiba 1966 at the 3 year mark. Started with a bang and ended with a fizzle. Flavours are there however, not enough oomph that speaks Cohiba to me. Curious if this has hit a sedentary state. Will let the remaining ones sleep for a few years. Hopefully, this is in a cocoon and will emerge as a butterfly over time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 17

Chucko8 Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 I have to admit that I concur with your assessment from the examples that I have tried. They have all started out well but seem to go missing as the cigar burns down. Can only hope that they blossom in the future.

CigarOgami Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 Later years are possibly better? Sent from my SM-N976U using TapatalkI got 17, 18, 19 & 20 Talisman and personally, the 19 year is the best, very consistent throughout the whole stick. I wonder if anyone share the same experience.從我的iPhone使用Tapatalk 發送
Fugu Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 Seems, also hearing what the latest review by Rob and Ken on the RA LE had to say, they start blending and rolling LEs more towards pleasing the CA-crowd?.... Let's hope this was just an outlier.
maverickdrinker Posted October 24, 2020 Author Posted October 24, 2020 I find the most recent regular production too consistent in flavour profile. No nuance or change within the flavour profile. Monotone to me. Maybe the complexity will develop over time. The flavour profile is solid but no real depth yet IMHO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would prefer the Talisman over the EL2014 Robusto Supremos or Montecristo Supremos EL2019 IMHO.
