dominattorney Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I've got two more goofy booze bottles to crack, and an hour to kill before thr wife picks me up at the lounge. I asked the manager to recommend something I could review for the contest. Told him also to remind me to take photos after the next drink. I was already feeling thr tipple of the Agricole rum and armagnac. He recommended the perdomo 20th anniversary robusto. I asked him to pop open the bottle of zubrowka I brought in and pour some over ice with a little apple cider. For those of you who have never had Zubrowka, it is a lovely fall drink. Vodka infused with bison grass. You'd think the flavor wouldn't be very good. Well you'd be wrong. Kind of a noce herbaceous, yet floral, note that really carries the spirit. Excellent on its own on the rocks, but really shines with a splash of apple cider. Cold just the cider. Or heated with cinnamon is nice as well. Anyway, the manager came through with the drink order but failed to remind me to take more photos. I was wary of the perdomo at first, but it was quite nice. If a bit powerful. I felt that the power and nicotine hit overwhelmed the subtlety of the flavors I was getting at the beginning, which was a shame. Stick started off with a blast of pepper, but that quickly subsided and I got some dark cocoa and bitter spices, like a Chinese five spice subtly weaving in and out of wet hay. It was a nice flavor, but hard to describe. Unfortunately in thr second third the power just overtook the subtlety and it became impossible to pick much of anything out aside from nicotine and tobacco. At the end of the second third I had the manager pop a bottle of old forester bourbon to finish me off. Sadly the cigar was now allowing significant amounts of tar to accumulate at the head, the resulting bitterness of which, combined with the overall power of the cigar, caused me to pitch it. All in all a good time, and a smoke with decent potential. It was stored at 70 or 75 percent humidity. I may buy a few and acclimate them yo my humidor at home and see what I can coax out of them. Still, on this level, easily an 8 of 10 2
