Assuming 60 days acclimatisation to your humidor & define a poor box as the first 6 you smoke suck.

I’ve just been through 3 boxes of El Principe which were uniformly poor, but the Principe was my favourite short smoke before then, now I won’t be buying any more. I wish I knew the answer why this can happen too. I’m guessing just a poor batch of tobacco to that factory (they were all LGR).

What year ? I have LGR JUL 17. They are great, burned all but 3 sticks.

LGR Jun 18

LGR Nov 17

LGR Oct 17

I've had worse luck with 2016 and 17 honestly. 2018 and on a better positive rate. Anyone else ??

I have half a box of 2008 D4's with dark wrappers that tasted like kerosene. I'll have to pull one out and see what happened in last 8 years.  Lol

It would be interesting to see what that age did to them.

8 years or so...

1 box of 10 Monte 4. 9 out of 10 absolute turds.

1 box of 10 BRC Tubos. All 10. Yep, ALL 10 were pitched at less than half way. Awful.

1 cab of PLPC. The first 20, sampled between 6 months and 4.5 years of age; awful. One good one. 2 or 3 since then, just about smokable. This cab might last my lifetime.

Everything else has just been the odd one or two per box, sometimes 3 or 4, but the majority are bloody good. Good enough to forgive the bad and keep you chasing great Cuban tobacco!

I have only ever had one box that was thoroughly bad. It was my most recent box of LGC Medaille D'or No. 4. Almost all of them were too tight to smoke. It was definitely quite disappointing, but will not deter me from smoking more of them as they are one of my favorite cigars.
