So a friend says he has a bag of cigars, been sitting in his closet for years. Probably crap, but said he'll just drop them off to me. About 20 Quorums, 20 cheapie Rocky Patels, and among the fake Monte and Cohiba I find the oddest thing I would ever have expected:

That Sancho Panza Eslavo looks dubious at best.

That would be a real find an excellent cigar if it weren’t so terribly fake.

edit:  If it is not fake, that is the worst 109 head I have ever seen.

Nice! If you’re both careful and lucky, the band will slide up just enough to cover the puka (that’s a hole for you non-Hawaiians).

I was thinking the same thing. That doesn’t appear to be as long as it should be either.

I have to agree, pretty strange dropped head. Looks pretty torpedo to me, though the bands seem legit.

I'll try and repair it. I have plenty of spare wrapper and cigar glue. Carlos Fernandez is out of town or I'd have him replace the wrapper entirely. The rest of it is actually not too bad. That tear near the head is by far the worst of it.

I believe it's genuine. The head is just squished and beat up. The bands are both 100% genuine. I had to remove them to patch this up. I'll post pics of my work after it dries and after I let this thing reacclimate for a few months I'll review it here.

Wow...those Montes are BAAAAD fakes.

Yes, yes they are. Typical fakes that float all throughout Mexico and Central America. The fleur-de-lis on the three on the right look like corn husks.

At least they were kind enough to cello wrap them!

Most fakes are. I don't know why. Obviously the upper-end fakes aren't but I think the cheap fakers are stuck in the 80s when Lanceros were cello. You'd think they'd have gotten the memo that no CCs are cello anymore. Maybe the idea is that it helps hide the quality of the wrapper?

I shouldn’t think so. Looks like the roller certainly had no clue about how to finish the head of a tumbado. Sorry to say... ?

At first, I was worried this photo might not be safe for work.  At least at a distance.?

Didn't look so obvious at first but I could crop it a bit.

But, they are both called Sancho.
