There is a fish that is used to make canned "Steers in tomato sauce". In Russian, the name of the fish is written the same way as the colloquial name of a cigarette butt. Hence the tradition: use an empty tin can as an ashtray in a hurry. This is considered an attribute of everyday life for alcoholics and homeless people. I have a “real McCoy” (if it is actually real) that I inherited from my grand parents in law. It’s meant for cigarettes, but use it with cigars from time to time. Like the symmetry of it.

Not necessarily ugly, but perhaps - given what's been posted - the most unique... In the same way that someone with no tattoos is the most unique in a group of people covered in ink...

@BoliDan, I grew up living adjacent to my grandparents. Their house was opposite one of the first McDonald's stores in Sydney (which opened in the mid-70's). My aunty worked shifts during the week and weekends when she was a teenager. This ashtray...wow, I have not seen that in years but I remember those well! Thanks for posting!
