Popular Post El Presidente Posted August 27, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 27, 2020 Why does a slight shiver run down my back when I see something cigar related prefaced with "by Ken Gargett" Montecristo No. 2 Cigars And A Darker Experience Down An Unmarked, Deserted, Cuban Dirt Track Just Outside Havana If pushed to pick a single cigar representing what Havana has to offer, I’m sure we’d get many fine options, but I’d wager that the famed and ubiquitous Montecristo No. 2 ($410/AUD$1,350) would feature heavily on most lists. For many, the Montecristo No. 2 is not just the king, but the pick of all cigars. First released prior to the Cuban Revolution that saw Fidel Castro come to power in 1935, Montecristo No. 2 is available in boxes of 25 and 10. The tech specs are that it is 156 mm in length with a ring gauge of 52 mm. This is not any Limited Edition, one-off, or regional release. The Montecristo No. 2 is a regular production cigar, one of the most loved Cuban releases, and a cigar that should be readily available without any difficulty. It is instantly identifiable with its tapered end and simple Montecristo band. A couple of my favorite experiences with Montecristo No. 2s came in Cuba itself, both some years ago. CONTINUED 6

nKostyan Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 When I see the Cuban pyramid, I can't understand why it has almost parallel faces and does not look like a "pyramid"at all. Most people will think that this photo from Ken’s article is a crude fake, but it looks more like a pyramid cigar:

StevenAver Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Big fan of the #2, and FOH has some great prices on the 10ct boxes. Very competitive.
cottierm Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Excellent piece of writing. Thanks Ken. Michel

Pag Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Great read. Always enjoy the back alley and secret farm stories that only the locals know of. The point to remember is that sometimes you need to make good of what you have available. My Dad told me stories of "Kick the Can" back in his youth. Starting to wonder if Pops was some kind of good Vampire. " Kick the Can". Hours upon hours of kicking a can with friends and enjoying every second of it. Almost hard to imagine. We take so much for granted with our Alien technological advances. Cellphones , laptops and big screens. Sometimes it's great for the soul to take a drive down that dusty dirt road and appreciate not what we don't have, but what we do have and the people around us. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
