Popular Post maverickdrinker Posted July 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 28, 2020 The wrapper is a honeyed, light chestnut hue. Smooth to the touch with no major veins. The construction is good. Firm through out the cigar with a light give when squeezed. The triple cap looks good and the foot ran into my humidor edge and now looks like a shaggy foot. Aromas of milk chocolate, honey, citrus and ginger snaps, with an accent of earth emanate from the wrapper. A quick twist from my Siglo multi punch and we are ready for ignition. The draw is open. Would like to see this tighter. Light oak, citrus and touches of cocoa and earth come from the cold draw. First ThirdLight oak, citrus, ginger snaps, earth and a touch of cinnamon and leather form the core flavour profile. Strength is at a medium bodied level. A beautiful start. The retrohale is lush and vibrant. Light oak, cinnamon, earth, leather, oolong tea and citrus move graciously through the nasal passages. The after finish is equally lush on the palate with good staying power. Citrus, cinnamon, earth, cocoa and leather lead the way, followed by light oak, oolong teaand ginger snaps. A salivating flavour profile that is bolstered by the medium bodied strength level. This is nice.... Second ThirdLight oak, leather and cinnamon take on the dominant position in the retrohale. Strong strides as they move through the nasal passages. The after finish is heavier now. Strength has slightly picked up but stays in the medium bodied level. Light oak, leather and cinnamon lead the way, followed by citrus, earth, cocoa and ginger snaps. The oolong tea note has gone out of focus. Richer on the palate with good staying power. Nice complexity and nuance within the flavour profile. Very interesting turn of events. Final ThirdThe retrohale deepens further with the oolong tea reintroducing itself to light oak, leather and cinnamon. Cocoa also joins in as they move through the nasal passages. The after finish brings a whole new level of complexity. Cinnamon, light oak, leather, oolong tea and citrus are followed by lavender, earth and gravel. Ginger snaps comes in intermittently so you don’t forget it’s at the party. Strength remains even keel and allows the flavours to linger on the palate effortlessly. A nice way to finish... Final Impressions Stunning as usual. A flavour profile and vitola that I adore however, not longer available. I still believe the EDRM flavour profile is best in a smaller ring gauge cigar even though it does work in larger ring gauge formats. A reminder of the past and hopefully, a look into the future. I constantly remind myself of a conversation that I had with someone high ranking in the Habanos hierarchy. One thing that sticks in my head today is what he said to me: ‘vitolas and marcas do not die. They are resting until it is the right time to bring them back.’ I hope this is the case for the long and skinnies as well as for EDRM. Would love to see Habanos SA resurrect the EDRM regular production portfolio with vitolas long gone.... A+ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 12
teamrandr Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 I have only ever smoked one before and it was one the best I have had.
CaptainQuintero Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Great stuff! Certainly a white whale cigar, hoping that it will get a release at se level, even if it's just like the RA898 regional 1

This was my last one unfortunately. I still kick myself for selling a box early in my cigar education....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think these two are great. I remember picking up galangal in the last few ERDMGDE i had. and strangely, i think ginger snaps dipped in oolong tea, would closely approximate that sort of green botanical herbacious ginger flavour I was getting, very well indeed. Hats off, really enjoyed the review. 2
