Loki Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Rob, When blending the tobacco for ie. 04 regular production cigars, is any vintage tobacco from other production years blended in to keep the consistency of flavor from one year to the next or is it strictly from 03 crop?

El Presidente Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Loki. Ken and I will be doing an indepth on blending and maintaining blends while in Havana Feb. My understanding from Habanos sources is NO to the point that older tobacco is intentionally used to maintain a blend/profile. If it is available...fine it will be used. If not then they will use what is available. If what is available is unsuitable for the blend of a particular marques vitola then it will not be produced.
Loki Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 Thanks Rob. I've read about using surplus tobacco but wasn't sure about the blending process.
