Popular Post MoeFOH Posted July 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 14, 2020 I don't own a car, haven't for years. Not needed, and pure bliss without one, to be honest. That said, definitely have some fond and not so fond memories of adventures with car ownership. And I've certainly owned cars that felt like the one below... maybe worse... cars. Best car: my first, a Holden HZ Kingswood. Kermit the Frog Green. Pure woman repellent but a great old ship of the desert, with a small 253 V8 and great big lounge chair comfort... and handling. Worst car: bought a 96 (maybe? Have tried to forget) Audi A4 secondhand. Steaming (literally) pile of crap. Endless troubles... Serves me right for trying to get something snooty. What's your best &/or worst car? Kingswood looked pretty close to this. What a beauty! 6
Popular Post Habana Mike Posted July 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 14, 2020 Best so far 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport. 3 years in, a fantastic driver's car. Our dog won't even get in the other.... Worst, '76 Chevy Vega bought used in the early '80s. Many issues but by far the worst when the oil pan got ripped from underneath by a mildly raised manhole cover. 7
armada_crew Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Probably only because it was my first, but loved my 1977 VW Scirocco. Haven't had any that were really bad, maybe only my grandfather's Ford Pinto I drove around for a short while. 4
Popular Post KCCubano Posted July 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 14, 2020 Had three Porches at same time. Wife drove the Cayenne and I had 911s. Loved em but it was a nightmare when it came to maintenance. Never again will I buy another one. Have had 7 Toyota 4x4s since 82. Never had any issues. Have a 17 year old Sequioa now for daily driver. No major issues. Just change oils and rotate tires. Will have a Toyota 4 wheel drive until I die! 5
Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted July 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 14, 2020 05 Ford Focus ZX4. Paid $4,000 for it in 09. Been my little daily grocery getter for 11 years. Outside of standard maintenance I've put about $1,000 into it in that time. 235k miles. Drivetrain original, no rebuilds. I'm singularity impressed with its reliability. Worst: 85 Mercury Cougar. Bought it for $700 as a kid. Lasted 12 miles--engine seized. Yes, I got my money back. 5 1
JY0 Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Best: Lexus GS300. Gas, oil, filters and wipe blade, tires and that's it over 5 years of ownership. Worst: Datson (I'm old) B210. First new car after college. It left me on the side of the road often. 1

I just test drove the stelvio quadrifoglio and that is the new must have thing. They make them with sun roof now 1
CigarZen Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Two of my best: my current ride is the OG BMW M2 in Long Beach Blue, and a 1992 or 93 Mazda RX 7. Both reasonably affordable, reliable— and fun to drive. 2
BrightonCorgi Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Not the fanciest cars I have ever owned, but certainly the best manufactured and engineered cars for when they came out. 1. 1985 Toyota Celica. Timing belt broke and just slapped a new one on. No damage. Could not kill that car. Amazing quality interior materials. Really some of Japan's best for the period 2. Honda S2000. Just everything about it was special and construction was very impressive. Solid as could be Worst was a Merucry Topaz. Had to buy parts on the month the car was made and we were buying them often. Real crap car. Mom had to get brown to match our Golden Retriever. It was my car soon after I got my license. 3

We never knew after a night of Boones Farm Stawberry Hill if we would make it home or not!
Chibearsv Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 My dad was a car dealer so I've had/driven just about everything made between 1969-1987. For the most part, they all had a time and place for me that was pretty good. Of the cars I've owned, my worst was my 83 Lincoln Mark VI. I wanted it to be great. It was a pure American gas hog, CB/8 Track combination radio, opera lights in the back, giant interior. Bought it in the early 90's and it just hated either the ethanol mixed in the gas or the low octane or combo of both. Had to floor it on the highway to get it to smooth out. Favorite car was a 2006 VW Passat 3.6. Looked great and was an absolute rocket on the road. One time averaged over 100 mph coming back to Chicago from Louisville and got 29 MPG on the trip! Car's got over 100,000 miles and my daughter is still driving it and will until it dies. Sadly now I drive a Toyota Highlander Limited. Boring. Does everything it's supposed to do, looks pretty good, great stereo, reliable as hell, good mileage, great in the snow, lots of space....yawn....it's only a perfect car... for me...now. 4

Carrie Nation Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 1984 Audi 5000. You name what could got wrong and it did. Only owned it for a year and a half. 2
johnl617 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 My parents gave me the ugliest Chevy Corsica...... it was dying..... but it was free....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
havanaclub Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 2006 Honda Civic , super reliable and excellent on gas. I had a manual transmission and had over 450k KM on it on the original clutch. Oil, filter, tires, breaks that’s it except the AC went after I think 7 years and had to fix it. I always thought I would drive it until it broke down. I probably would still be driving it but I wanted something new. Have a 2016 BMW 328i x drive sportline package. Good looking car and fun to drive. Haven’t had any major issues with it but I am up on the lease and looking for something new. Worst car would have to my parents old Jeep Grand Cherokee 1990 I believe it was. My brother and I had it through most of our high school days. Seemed like it was in the shop too many times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Bijan Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I've only had a handful of cars. Worst one was a 2003 Toyota Echo, which I got in maybe 2013. Nothing broke on it in 5 or 6 years, but it was just a really economy ride. AC could barely keep the car cool in Canadian summer amongst other things. Best car Tesla Model 3 AWD. 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Lots of cool technology features. Not sure if electric cars count in this but it's the only "nice" car I've had. 2

NSXCIGAR Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Honorable mention to my best friend in high school's 86 Suzuki Samurai. Called it the "flipmobile". Every winter he'd invariably hit a patch of ice and it would flip. As long as he had another guy with him he could roll it back over and drive on. Ended up being very reliable. 3 1

Wasn't that the one where people were hitting the gas instead of the brakes and plowing through their garages? Unreliable and deadly.
Popular Post Gonz Posted July 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2020 '02 Mercedes G500 - Simultaneously the best and worst car I've ever owned. Had some great times in it, tons of fun off-road doing what it was designed for. At the same time it had all kinds of issues and things breaking on it, from window motors to nav system. Part of the problem was that I was living 5 hours from the closest dealer, and no shop in town wanted anything to do with it. Now, for simply the best car I've owned, that's hands down my '99 BMW M3. Pure fun, one of the best handling cars ever made, and it's been an awesome bonding experience for my 17 year old and me. 5
Popular Post NicPac Posted July 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2020 I’ve gone through a lot of vehicles in my life but this is my favorite I’ve ever owned. Might not be the best and definitely not the most expensive but it’s my favorite. 1987 VW Weekender. It’s slow but a pure joy to drive. It’s currently at the shop getting all new interior, stereo and a bunch of other cool details. Next will be a TDI diesel conversion. I’m counting on years of memories in this thing traveling around the western part of the states with my wife and two young boys. 7 1

I haven't posted here for a while, but my first car was a '78 Scirocco, and this brings me back. It blew a cylinder a month after I got it, and it was still a hell of a lot of fun to drive. The mechanic's recommendation? Drive it 'til it dies...so I did. : ) +1 for the Scirocco. 1
