El Presidente Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 San Cristobal Mercaderes, Muralla, and Oficias....how have they aged? I miss the San Cristobal Mercaderes (6 3/5 x 48), Muralla (7 1/10 x 54 pyramid) and Oficias (5 3/10 x 43)! They weren't huge sellers but they were excellent cigars that often tasted as if they were rolled at the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory I saw this morning that that Ravi posted a Mercaderes (2006) for this weekend on Bond Roberts All sadly Discontinued in 2011. Let us know if you hold any and how they are ageing? 2
NSXCIGAR Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Had heard great things about all but the Oficios over the last 5 years, especially the Murallas. Always highly praised. I consider the Murallas to be too ahead of its time. That should have been re-released instead of the Prado.
Popular Post cigaraholic Posted July 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 11, 2020 I have s few Mercaderes EMA NOV07 and a few Muralla EMA AGO07 left. The Mercaderes are beautifully rolled but we’re bland when young. Over time they have become creamy, nutty, delicious Hoyo’s. They never have tasted like a San Cristobal. The Muralla’s were indeed rolled at Mr Wonka’s factory, on Christmas, absolutely incredible cigars...I usually smoke one on Christmas Eve. 10 1
La_Tigre Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Have a single Oficios and a couple Mercaderes. Have one of the Mercaderes waiting on deck in the rotation box. Looking forward to trying it out soon. How’s it from others?
gojira Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 The Muralla really stands out of the three. I like the Mercaderes quite a bit as well. The Oficios not so much.
Fugu Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Have evolved into wonderful smokes. Mercaderes is my format. Smoking from a 07 box.
Piligrim Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 smoked all of those pretty aged, last one was the Muralla this January and it was outstanding. both the rest were also very good when smoked last time, but Muralla is my favorite!
BrightonCorgi Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 I finished my last one about 4-5 years ago and was never really impressed. The very first release was better and subsequent releases were average at best. I loved the sizes and packaging though. Not one of the better LCDH releases when looking back.
Cigar Fan 29 Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I have 7 of the Murallas left in a box - EMA JUN 07. Such a work of art. Since they've been discontinued and they're such a unique and wonderful cigar, I just haven't had the heart to smoke them now for at least 5 years. I feel like such an emotional wimp over this! Rod 4
ha_banos Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Both Mercaderes and Oficios are great now. Only had a handful of each from another forum split. Both fivers smooth, mild tasty cigars for me. Just lovely. Finished both this year. Actually terrible. Nasty acrid. Please forward to me for registered humane disposal.... 1
jerrybrowne Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Mercaderes are Murallas are both great cigars IMO. I could never get into the Oficios though. Too woodsy for me.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
tstoner Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Just smoked an 06 Oficios today and it was incredible. I was never much of a fan when they first came out but 14 years has done them well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Popular Post dobbs Posted November 25, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2023 Not trying to raise a zombie thread, but this seems appropriate... A friend gifted me an '08 Muralla and I am smoking it now, in short, it is fantastic. This is my first, so I can't say whether anything has been lost, but this cigar is smooth in the extreme and very flavorful. I can see why some taste chocolate, but I'm getting more of an herbaceous carob flavor. Lots of grassiness, mint, and strong peanut flavor as well. Interestingly, there was a cheez-it (American cheese crackers) flavor on the cold draw which never showed after lighting. This is a very unique smoking experience for me and I am lucky to have been gifted this cigar. Enjoying with an Alvear Pedro Ximenez sherry (inexpensive) and my dogs on the deck. -dobbs 8 1
Fugu Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Among those cigars / releases that give proof to what time can do to fine tobacco and a quality blend. They were pretty inexpressive when young. 3
Sandman Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 06 Oficios are excellent cigars. They’ve never not been. I smoke one a year, always love them, just wish they would last longer. 2
