I have about 900 cigars with an average age of 3-5 years on them. I only smoke 1-2 per week and I’m worried about aging them to death! I have the opposite problem compared to many folks on here. I’ve overbought!

sometimes I wonder if I overbought... but then i build a bigger humidor

Interesting responses! Whatever ones individual desires is right, no one can say what is too much for anyone else. Brings to memory about a fire the firemen responded to in a shed in a guys back yard. He had 50,000 cigars. I would have lost it...

I guess the same goes for spirits. I have over 200 bottles of some premium whiskey. Now that doesn't expire, nor at risk of beetles!

Watch out for the obe! ... I suggest you need to open a few bottles to see if anything's wrong ..

I have far more than I will ever get to at my current smoking rate. I do appreciate having them all because I am able to share with friends when they come over. I am not just giving them the cheapest cigars I could find, but something they should genuinely enjoy. I also have an undiagnosed mental health disorder that makes hoarding and collecting fancy objects an obsession.

This is the only honest answer.

hope those with "more than they'll ever need" have honest and frank discussions with someone in their life in the event something bad happens. Most often we have those discussions with our spouses...but there may be reason why someone other than your spouse may be beneficial in this case. (you can be truthful with costs/values/etc)

Yes, a local friend of mine, very knowledgeable with channels, and I have a pact to liquidate the other’s collection whenever one of us passes to provide the funds to the estate.

You bring up a good point. I dont have any “Chump” stogies. I’ve given all my sampler, not fan of stogies away. If i share a cigar its a good one.

Seems like this is a very prudent part of owning any collection of considerable value, especially since they can be quite perishable. I hate to think how many greats have been lost over the years due to lack of care once their owner is not around to provide.
