Interesting - Please explain which hotels are allowed for Americans and source ?

Most are ok, only the ones with a military ownership interest are barred under the current regulations. That’s a minority of the well known hotels.

Thanks for the link, highly interesting list to browse, didn't think even Rum companies would be barred for US citizens, like Ron Caney and Ron Varadero. Or my favourite beach, Tarara. Or Cuervo y Sobrinos, the watchmaker.

Checking the list from your link I can see it is quite a large minority that is barred by the US DoS ...

I’m pretty sure popular third party booking sites (like hotels.com) already filter for the prohibited hotels which makes it somewhat easier.

Yeah, pretty sure about that.

After all - it would only be a handful of hotels like the 2 Melias, the Habana Libre and the Nacional ... makes it much more simple.

What I don’t understand is why there isn’t more consistently with certain chains. For example, Grand Packard and Parque Central are both Iberostar but only the former is prohibited.

Pretty easy - it depends on what Cuban gvmt part is the 51% stakeholder.

If it is the miltary through Gaviota or Gaesa or another Cuban non-military-related entity.

Melia Hotels in HAV are not barred but Melia Hotels in Varadero are ... military connection is the clue.
