Two week post op appointment tomorrow.  I’m off the deck and able to walk around the neighborhood now with a walker. Slow and steady progress. I miss my cigars but it’s a small price to pay in exchange for relatively pain free living.

I’m back. I had my 8 week post fusion appointment last week and all is well, my bones are fusing. I can resume smoking but in moderation. My surgeon is a cigar smoker and told me a few cigars a week would be ok at this point in recovery  

I’m on the deck enjoying A RAAS and a beautiful sunset.

Most importantly my back pain is gone. I do feel tightness and ache a bit if I do too much but for the first time in 20 years I am pain free and Ive got 90% of the feeling back in my right leg. I’m thrilled to be off of all pain medicine, no narcotics, no aspirin, no ibuprofen...nothing. I had been eating those since my injury in October just to survive.

Spinal fusion isn’t for everyone but so far it has changed my life for the better. So far so good, hope to continue the trend.
