slowsmoke Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Smoking in view of my (young) kids. Never inside, and never in close proximity. I have pretty much given up on hiding it, and they see me out on the back patio an awful lot lately. They are beginning to ask why/how what I'm doing is different than the horrible smoking they have been taught to fear...

I'm interested in hearing how you handle this, I'm still hiding it from my son but he is only 6 months old so its not that hard.... 2
throberto Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 I'm interested in hearing how you handle this, I'm still hiding it from my son but he is only 6 months old so its not that hard....I don't have any problem with smoking around my kids (10 & 12), only outdoors and downwind. I have explained to them the difference between Cigars and Cigarettes and the relative risks balanced with the enjoyment I get. I said I would give them up if they gave up eating sweets and chocolate. No takers so far! They still tell me off every time I light up, but I figure that all the time they don't like me doing it there's less chance of them wanting to smoke cigarettes and if either of them want to start smoking Cigars, then great - as long as they can afford to pay for them themselves and are old enough to buy them. Popular Post BoliDan Posted May 30, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 30, 2020 I light the foot too fast (Not Ken levels mind you) I smoke in 20F (-7C) weather. ill hot box lanceros because i have no chill. I throw out tent poles from a fresh box without even trying one. I ash any chance i get I cant taste anything on the palate because retrohale 100% of the time I spend money i dont have I give good cigars to people that dont respect tobacco and then hate them after they have no idea what im talking about for flavor and then toss it half way. I bring up cigars in randomly casual conversation to see if there is anyone i can connect with and they just look at me funny. 2 6
Akela3rd Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 Smoking A because I have more of A than the B I actually fancy at the time. Usually regret it, still do it. Slow learner. Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
teamrandr Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 Lately I have been just smoking way too many. Basically on the weekends chain smoking aged sticks. I need to slow it down again. I liked it better when I was just smoking 2 or 3 a week.

About a month ago I decided that my first cigar of the day would be aged and any other cigar later that same day would be newer production. 1

But after meeting him and some of his staff in Havana years ago I gave up hope they would even know what cigar end to light up if not guided by a band. Useless arrogant bunch. Love how MJ lights up his cigar. Surprised to hear Cigar Aficionado staffs doesn't know how to light cigars properly! So disappointing...

Sent from my GM1903 using Tapatalk That's a good way of doing it, I'm still working out how to do it as my father used to smoke 2 packs of cigs a day and he quit when he was having me so I've never know how to introduce it to a kid. I haven't smoked a cigarette in my life and never felt the urge to so not sure if it does make a difference if I saw my father smoke.
Meklown Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 The whole work from home thing made me start smoking too many. I basically just do it whenever. Cigar smoking used to be something that I'd take an hour or two to sit down and slowly enjoy / relax / unwind and appreciate the flavours, but lately I've lost that. Feel a bit like a cigarette smoker now in fact.
Lunettesman Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 My bad habit is always keeping the most precious cigars I owned and never smoke them... Such a shame in a way because tomorrow isn't given so I should reach for these precious sticks more often than not.
