Popular Post FatPete Posted May 25, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 25, 2020 Montecristo 80th Aniversario 2017 Smoked from humidor at 60RH (Boveda need changing again) 55RG-It's a big cigar, the Don would surely approve. Lovely smooth wrapper with a light honeyed tobacco aroma at cold. Build: looked excellent Draw:Perfect, with just a little resistance. First third Sweet cocoa powder opens the show, within a velvety smooth smoke. A little light woods join in before the milk chocolate appears and dominates things. It's quite creamy at this point. The flavours are light, and so is the smoke production. Combustion is perfect, and the ash holds on well. Second third Becoming richer and a little tangy. Roasted nuts arrive, pushing back the chocolate. There is nice nutty aftertaste too. The nuts didn't last long before being replaced by bitter black chocolate. Wrapper needs touching up on one side halfway through this third, draw remains perfect. Last third Up to full body now having started below medium, then medium for most of the cigar. Dark chocolate is the main taste here, with a little white pepper on the retro. Score: Best Montecristo I have smoked. I really loved the smoothness throughout, the creamy milk chocolate start, the nuts in the middle, and the bitter chocolate at the end. Like smoking a snickers bar. Wonder if the Leyenda smokes the same? I could very well smoke these day in day out with suitably deep pockets. As a bonus, moderate smoke production should ensure that I don't get bumped off by any non smoking mafioso if I light up indoors ! 2 hour smoking time to the nub. 9/10 6
