Wookie Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 I have a couple boxes of the 15-16 robustos...neither of which has been compelling so far. I don think I know if they will ever become good. Gonna try one again this weekend for the first time in 6 months....I've been dry boxing one for 5-6 days now in my 62 humidor. Does anyone have similar experience with this vintage? Seems everybody loves these on this forum. Thanks for any feedback! 1
StogieSteve23 Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 I picked up two boxes of OPS AGO-16 JL1's last year in Havana. I've smoked about 10 from one box and they have all been overfilled, bad draw and almost all flameproof wrappers (after dry boxing). I have dry boxed for a week or so at times and it still didn't make a difference. I took all the remaining sticks out from the cab and put them into a singles humi I have in hopes that it may help? Haven't touched the other box yet but probably wont for some time if these don't start showing a change. Glad to see I'm not the only one having issues with that year. 1
JohnS Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 I seem to recall that Juan Lopez Seleccion No.2 Robustos grew in reputation on our forum around 2017-18. Perhaps late '16 at the earliest. I don't recall the JL2s having a general stellar reputation on FoH during 2015/16. One caveat though, I am talking in general here so it doesn't preclude anyone having positive experiences with this vitola during that earlier period. 2

Wookie Posted May 21, 2020 Author Posted May 21, 2020 i just checked the boxes....one is BOR DIC 15, which i have not yet tried. These wrappers are much darker than the other box, SEA NOV 15. The Nov 15 are lighter wrappers and they have been pretty dismal. I just set out a DIC 15 to dry and have higher hopes for it. 2
Wookie Posted May 24, 2020 Author Posted May 24, 2020 So I fired up the first stick from the BOR DIC 15 box last night. It was second cigar of the day so palate wasn't fresh, but this was much better than the other box with the lighter colored wrappers. I detected better body and some tough to describe sweetness. Looking forward to trying one on a fresh palate. To say the least, I'm intrigued to grab a box on twenty four store soon.
Astar20 Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 My box is from 18 and these are so dark but wow what a great under the radar cigar! I'm trying to keep my grubby mitts off them but they are a very dark chocolate, citrusy, woody stellar stick! Definitely a great value and underrated cigar! 2
