I have a personal policy of not bidding on Bond Roberts.

But if I could.....One of my Holy Grail Cigars has come up.

How I miss the Partagas SDC line!!!!!? There is simply nothing coming out of Havana like the 1/2/3 today.

so your "personal policy" is going to rob all of the kind people who view our videos when for just a few shekels you could easily grab the box and we could do them for all to enjoy and to share that experience.

shame, rob, shame.

and i assume you immediately issued him with an invite to videos back on the balcony when we can?

where would it stop? my question would be 'why are you working on the principle that it should stop?'

Damn, I was hoping you found a way to Photoshop that box of cigars into this scene.

Rob,

I did a back to back review of one of these with one of your N1's, say 3 weeks ago and never got around to posting about it. It might have been a SdC #2 actually, I don't recall now.

While the cigars were very different, from a strict 'enjoyment' perspective, judging only the smoking experience and how much I enjoyed the cigars, I honestly cannot say that the SdC #2 was a better a cigar. This is quite a complement coming from me, a guy that debatably dislikes non-Cuban cigars.

The N-1 was more robust and a more interesting cigar. SdC was more subtle, and nuanced. I enjoyed both cigars. To be wholly honest, I would have to say that the N-1 would have received a higher rating from me in a blind review.

I would have to say it was a better cigar!

Caveat... This was a back to back (day apart as I recall) review with only two cigars. I cannot claim that it was an 'end all' judgment about the two cigars as a whole. It was just two of a lifelong experience with many, many cigars. Take it for what it is worth.

The N-1 is a worthy cigar. It possesses a fine reputation with me, as does the SdC line.

Cheers! -Ray

Very interesting to read Ray. I find rating cigars young verses old very difficult. A bit like when a sports fans want to hypothesize who will win between boxers of different generations. The factor of failure is always the untrustworthy sweetness of memory. I.e these two cigars will always be out of sync, they can only be judged (as you have done) ie.... How do they perform on the day.

Ray

That is a high compliment indeed mate. On behalf of Hammy and myself, we are both proud and humbled.

My 2020 samples are on their way to me now and I believe them to be a step up again. I will make sure to include you in the tasting panel. :ok:
