Popular Post FireDigger Posted May 19, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 19, 2020 I say "collection" in quotes because it is not really something of monetary value, rather it's just something for me to do with all the cigar bands I have laying around. I started this over ten years ago, but the quarantine allowed me to actually finish what I started. ? I noticed I'm missing some newer fancier bands. Maybe BOTLs here in the US could send me some in the mail? Thanks ahead of times. Would love to see your collections as well! 9
Subcomandante Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Pretty cool. What are those sleeves made for, negatives?

Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted May 20, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 20, 2020 Nice! Didnt know those were stamp collecting pages. I picked up a Pre-Embargo band collection from an antique dealer years ago. (sample below) 5
KavalanWhisky Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Nice collection! How do you get the bands to separate so cleanly? I always end up tearing mine.

You have a good collection there! 1 hour ago, KavalanWhisky said: Nice collection! How do you get the bands to separate so cleanly? I always end up tearing mine. I roll the bands off for those loose enough. If the glue is super stubborn, I leave it in water for 5 minutes and the glue normally dissolves pretty cleanly.
Puros Y Vino Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 @Firedigger An old post with more of the bands from the book I bought. 1

Thank you bundwallah, that was a great find! What I noticed about the bands I bought on eBay is that they were in great shape for being "old" bands. I wonder if this is because these were never used on cigars or if they were reprints or something else? Either way, it doesn't matter much for me as I'm mainly interested in the look and presentation.
StogieSteve23 Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Another easy way to get the bands off without ruining them or the cigar is by warming up the glue underneath the bad with your lighter. Run your lighter back and forth (carefully enough not to burn the cigar's wrapper) over where the glue on the band is it should warm it up enough to unstick itself relatively easily when you try taking it off. 1

If stored right they should look new. I just saw one auction for 40000 bands of one brand. It was in its original box from the lithographers.
