Smokecigareveryday Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Jordan made everything fashionable and cool, from Nike to Gatorade. I truly believe that there will be a rise in cigar sales globally after watching the Last Dance. He was smoking Cubans left and right through out the documentary. 1
Monterey Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Estimated rate of unemployment at 20-25% coming up. I'm pretty sure cigar sales are about to tank. 2

Homer Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I can´t believe that people around the world are very interested of MJ. There are other things that are more important. 2 1

There are other things that are more important. I haven’t watched it yet but it’s on my list. Thats kinda the whole point. To take a break from what’s going on. Normally people might catch a movie to escape reality for two hours. Here people get to watch one of the greatest to ever play. For some it might jog some memories of a simpler time in their childhood. For others it might be to find out about the guy that makes their shoes. We can’t watch the news all the time. 5
Homer Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I only meant that it´s hard to believe that one movie would have significant effect on global cigar sales like smokecigareveryday is saying. Thats all. 1
GVan Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Good topic to debate! To your point - MJ is still one of the most popular athletes in the world. He is certainly the most marketable athlete in the world as proven by his current net worth of ~ $ 2.1Billion (Imagine that!). Whatever Jordan touches or endorses still sells. He also happens to smoke some of the most expensive CC's around including many "custom rolls". On the other side: I'm sure Rob could weign in the best, but obviously, cigar sales softened as people hoarded cash and just stopped buying during this pandemic. Cigars are a discretionary purchase. My gut says pure economics outweighs any potential Jordan effect. It is generally people with money, or just people that are passionate about good cigars that buy Cubans. Also, people as a group, are resilient and return quickly to their old habits. Those that still have a good job will quickly return to their old buying habits. I think cigar sales will slowly return and we are already seeing prices begin to rise. However, it will be a slow trend and we will still see some very "good deals" for some time to come..... 3
zappaFREAK Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Sadly I have not been a basketball fan since Walt Frazier! Upon the constant urging of my brother in law I decided to watch. Hooked like a fish on a line I watched all 10 episodes and wish I did not miss all those games. The man was simply incredible. 2
FireDigger Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 In the finale of The Last Dance, Jordan was smoking a long skinny! That was definitely refreshing to me. I didn't try to find a pic, but I would guess it was a Fundadore? Does anyone else have a guess after seeing the episode? 1

mtapia3 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I'm not sure if MJ is to blame or stimulus checks, but recent 24:24 sales seem to be stronger than ever. 1
teamrandr Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I could definitely see more people picking up the habit. 1
SmokyFontaine Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 For about 4 of the 5 weeks the documentary ran I haven't been smoking at all, so seeing Phil, Scottie, Jordan all sitting around smoking cigars (some that I recognized, some that I didn't) has given me an itch to smoke like no other! This weekend I'll finally be back on it and will start with some smaller cigars just to get the nic tolerance up a little, then plan on smoking the longest CC I have in my collection. I don't know if the documentary will move the needle for sales right now, but I definitely think it will bring in new smokers still trying to "Be Like Mike". 1

He insist they be rolled only for him but oh well...need not say more. interestingly , this is my very first post. Approved yesterday and guilty of being late to the party. 2
El Presidente Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Celebrities smoking cigars would more likely have me turning off cigars for a few weeks.
