Popular Post El Presidente Posted May 13, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2020 I woke up to see a box of Punch Platino on Bond Roberts This is one cigar that I have never smoked and only seen a few times in the flesh. Is there a member on FOH who has smoked one? If so, give us a description and let us live vicariously through you! Also, a huge welcome to Ravi and the team to Bond Roberts. Ravi has been a great friend over many years. Enjoy mate! Back to the Punch Platino, who has smoked one? Punch Platino 2009 Semi Boite Nature Box of 25 cigars in al (BOX) Prominentes 49 x 194mm (7⅝″) Double Corona 4 1
El Presidente Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 Needless to say I find Mikes post a half dozen below this one. Of course Mike had 1 3
Popular Post JohnS Posted May 13, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2020 @Habana Mike also mentions in that thread that this is the only Regional Edition release from India to date. @ATGroom has also mentioned to me that this release is an anomaly amongst the 211 Regional Edition releases since 2005 thus far. You see, Regional Editions should be a unique vitola size for their marca and not have the same size dimensions as a regular production cigar, yet the Punch Platino is the same size as the Punch Double Corona. 3 2
mbflash80 Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 smoked a handful of them...thought they were really nice cigars but for the price differential at the time decided to continue to park my coin in the regular production DC... 2 1
Taco Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Glad to see Ravi join Bond Roberts. These guys are building something special in the cigar auction industry. 3
Nino Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Ravi is a good guy, happy to see him joining BR. I received a couple of boxes of the Punch Platino India back in the day and was quite happy with it. One box had a funny anomaly - the foil was upside down, all else was OK. Might still have some pics of it somewhere ... 2
asudevil08 Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 welcome Ravi! Rob you're corralling all the best from the cigar world I see. 1
Lant63 Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 I have half a box or so left. Best foil wrapped cigar made IMHO. Distinctly punch in terms of flavor but more herbal. Has aged gracefully. May smoke another this month. 1
in0gravity Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Smoked one on Saturday. It developed into a very good mature cigar. Overall a very good representative of the Punch MarcaRegardsLarsGesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk 1
Ryan Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 My flight out of Havana in March 2010 was cancelled, I was booked on a Cubana flight to London 2 days later. Then that flight was delayed 10 hours. Cubana put us up for the night in the Hotel Copacabana, I don't recommend it. Anyway, the rooms being so bad in the Copacabana, I spent my allowance voucher on Mojitos in the lobby for the night which I spent chatting with Ameeta Seth of Cingari, my first time meeting her properly. This was just a year after the launch of these cigars. She was telling me that all kinds of things went wrong with the release. There was some indecision over the number of boxes to be made, either 600 or 1,000. I think some early boxes did go out with "xx of 600" on the badge and most with "xx of 1,000". She told me quite a bit more about the process of getting them ordered and produced, but the mojitos made me forget! I never pulled the trigger on a box myself. But they hung around on shelves for a long time. It's only 4 or 5 years now that they have become rare, I haven't seen one sell publicly in at least that long. It's a rare box, whether 600 or 1,000 boxes, that's only 15,000 or 25,000 cigars. No regional releases have been that small in a long time. 4
Popular Post Nino Posted May 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 14, 2020 @Ryan I believe it was a first run of 600 boxes followed by a second one of 1000 boxes. Here the inverted foil boxes .. ? And another box with the correctly placed foil. 7 1
Ryan Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Very nice Nino. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Rare boxes now! 1
Popular Post Nino Posted May 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 14, 2020 Just now, Ryan said: Very nice Nino. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Rare boxes now! By now memories only .... @Ryan Gone up in smoke ? 4 4
Popular Post canadianbeaver Posted May 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 14, 2020 Have smoked them several times, especially with FOH friends in nice locations in Toronto. Even had the wooden box when I bought another 10er. But then saw how expensive they were and traded them for Behikes I think. This was years and years ago. 6
