Ramon Allones Estupendos. Regional Release Asia Pacific (TEB OCT 07) – Beluga Gold Line Vodka - Bleasdale Tawny Port.

By Ken Gargett.

Now, anyone who does read these musings – and may I take this opportunity to thank both of you – will be aware that we looked at the Ramon Allones Estupendos, RR, Asia Pacific from 2007 very recently. I had a couple rolling around in a singles box (there is something way too decadent about this sentence) and grabbed another one the other evening. I had taped Quantum of Solace, and have Craig’s other three outings as 007 on DVD, so kicked off with Casino Royale, still possibly the best Bond flick of all, and then Quantum – definitely not in anyone’s list of Best Bonds. A very Bond evening.

To digress (there’s a shock), I have seen Quantum several times and have a few thoughts. The first time... continue to full article.

I hesitate to take this into a bond thread drift, but I'll do it anyway.

My biggest problem is that I can't pick out anything which distinguishes Craig's films. I can't remember anything beyond a few scenes, and I've no idea which films they were from: the poker-salt chugging scene in one, him being shot by accident in the top of the train bridge, the chair with no seat unfortunate scene. I can't remember any story from any of them, just generic action film stuff.

The exception is Skyfall, it may be because it was chock full of Bond Easter eggs but it seemed to have an overarching storyline which ended the Craig films and the Judy Dench M nice and tidily.

Much surprise was had when there was more Craig films after, 2 or 3? I've seen them but can't remember anything from them. I'm guessing there was lots of squinting and blurry action shots.

I know that there was some great actors brought in to play the main baddies, but I've no recollection about who or what they were, did or tried to achieve. This comes from someone who's massive archive of pointless knowledge consistently creates eye rolls and cheeks being blown out in bored frustration during Christmas quiz game evenings.

Skyfall was so good that it more than makes up for whatever the rest of Craig's time as Bond comprises of, but I wish that the rest were as unique or even as memorable.

Re the vodka, I've gotten quite into it this past year, nothing particularly super boutique but higher end supermarket stocked offerings and I'm really enjoying chasing that vanilla/cream path especially when little diversions come up and surprise you along the way. I wouldn't have ever envisioned myself being a 'sipping vodka' person. In fact I don't know what that even is!
