1. what cigar or cigars you bought a least a box of, that because of taste or for whatever reason you wished you purchase a sample instead?

for me its been the hdm san juan, for some reason i just dont like them, i enjoy the epicure, rio seco and even elegantes which i think i quite underrated but when it comes to san juan i wished i purchase a sample instead, these has become my give away cigars.

2. and with that in mind, whats a cigar really surprise you, and wished you purchase more than just a sample or one box of?

last year i got a 10ct box of lusitanias thats been smoking great and got me wishing i bought more. plus i missed them a few days ago on 24:24.

Got a cab of Punch SS #1 knowing they were going out of production.  Don't get me wrong, they're perfectly fine cigars, but it's just not my favorite flavor profile.  I wish I would have picked up some more Dip 1/3 or some LGC 1/2 before the brands were decimated.

I bought a box of Montecristo petit edmundo's about 3 or 4 years ago and they are complete dog poop. I still have half a box left after giving a bunch out and I'm hoping magically they turn from dog crap to diamonds if I ignore them for long enough. LMAO

When i started in CC i bought 2 boxes of RASS because there was so many good reviews about it. It ended up being a waste of money for me

Exactly what I was going to post, same quantity. I bought one and thought to myself after smoking a few, "surely I have a bad box". Got another box with a desirable box code, let it sit for a year, fired...no, tried to fire up the first one, and it burnt like a turd, was plugged as all get out, and if I had an easy way to sell both boxes for the price I paid, I'd probably do it.

Nothing else in CCs has disappointed me the same.

For cigars I wish I bought more of, really any of the Trinidads. They're spendy, but the two I've tried were fantastic.

As far as i can remember, i had no construction issues but the taste is just not there for me. I still have 2 left from an MUR OCT13 box and i smoked one last week from that box and i still don't like it. I wish i had bought 2 boxes of PSD4 instead.

This is a loaded question, and I don't mean that in a negative way... Just that with Cuban tobacco it's a crap shoot every time. I've bought new boxes of cigars cause old ones performed well and was disappointed. Stayed away from other cigars, while watching others rave about them. (i.e. RA Superiores)

Bought a box of Monte Especiales No 2... Lackluster. Last night I had a dud Esmeralda. Yes a dud. But it happens. You forget it and move onto the next one.

This is all essentially true. I was just remarking the same myself on ZOOM yesterday with some other FoH members about the 2019 Trinidad Topes. The first one I had from my humidor last week was sensational, the second was a mind-boggling average. I used to wonder to myself, "what is going on here?". Nowadays, I just forget it and move on to the next cigar (or Topes in this case).

There is stuff that I thought I hated in the 90's/2000's that I love today.

...mind you there is stuff I still hate ..:D

we get burned,  but we also get lucky!......so many smokers forget this.     When they happen upon a rich seam of cigars,  we all like to think  "Yep!,   my miraculous intuition has magnetised me to these cigars.....it's all down to me, and I deserve this"   Yes we do our research, and we depend on the thoughts of are fellow smokers.....but sometimes we forget we stumble of a clutch of cigars we thought were going to be yard cigars (and were bought for that reason)  and they turn out to be stunners that we cherish,  just through shear dumb luck.

So, in conclusion, whenever we get an underwhelming box,  let us remember those times, we struck gold through dumb luck!     It all evens out

Add me to the RASS list. Would’ve sworn off Ramon Allones if it wasn’t for the Superiores. I do have a second box I haven’t tapped into that looks amazing from a different factory than my first box. Same goes with H upmann. I have a box of magnum 46 that’s dog crap. Almost did away with h upmann but the Sir Winston just drive the marca to the top of my favorites. What it comes down to is what everyone is saying. Cubans are inconsistent. When they are on... it’s game time. When they are off... they make you question everything up to the man in the sky.

For the love of god can I give you my address? One of my all time favourites. I’m amazed though, how tastes change. You may not like a cigar, then a year or two later it may hit the spot. I used to love D4’s, now I barely smoke them.

Got a few HDM's Epi#2 to sample,  loved them.

Got a box & so far have been disappointed with burn & flavor inconsistencies.

They'll be resting for some time till I go back.

RA Extra.  I did buy a few samplers. And then two full boxes. I gave them time, but didn't come around to liking them.

1 Cuaba Distinguidos. Oh wait, I did buy a sampler and still wish I hadn’t. Much more value in rolling up a few pages of the Sun Times instead

2 Trinidad Fundadores. Not so much a surprise that they’d be good based on reviews on the forum. Just shocking how really great they are.
