Popular Post StogieSteve23 Posted May 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 6, 2020 Partagas Presidente - EAG JUL-14 Got a fiver of these about two years ago and didn't care for the first one. Put them away and forgot about the rest. I pulled one out the other day to dry box for a few and decided to smoke it today. Opening Remarks: The wrapper is ugly, with a rough dry feel to it. The head looks like a cross between a pinky toe and a kidney bean. It actually has a very nice un-uniformed shape which fits in the mouth quite well. After the slightest straight cut, the draw has no resistance. A faint sweetness of cinnamon candy. 1/3: For the first few puffs I get cinnamon and hazelnut. About a half inch in and the cigar starts go get very hot/squishy. I'm getting notes of dry cherrios, dry cereal, dry original Cap'n Crunch. I touch it up about 1" in. Draw seems to be getting a little restricted. I look down and there is lots of black tar/tobacco juice coming out of the head. I take another snip of the head and my problems are solved. Draw opens up, smoke production and flavor both increase. 2/3: Much better smoke production now. Strength has ramped up. Spice, pepper, dark cocoa. A few more puffs and pepper mellows out. Smores sans the chocolate. After the initial touch up, the burn has corrected itself well. The ash is thick, white and flaky on the outside with a firm dark core. A few more puffs and I need to touchup again. NICOTINE HIT! Felt myself getting a bit woozy and light headed. This only lasted for a moment thankfully. I take the band off and despite my best efforts to heat the glue before removing it, the wrapper still rips. I could tell it was going to from the get go. The band clearly had too much glue on it and was visibly on the wrapper as well. 3/3: Warm roasting cedar. Now kind of blah. Blah, Peppered scrambled eggs for the last few puffs. By this time the cigar is unenjoyable both in taste and construction. Closing Remarks: I wasn't overly impressed with the cigar and will probably not smoke the others for a while. Id probably give it a solid 21/25 for the score. 4 1
