Popular Post Sir Diggamus Posted May 4, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 4, 2020 CIGAR: Montecristo Especial no 2 DATE: 05/04/20 SIZE: 38 ring x 6 inches SHAPE: Laguito no.2 ORIGIN: Cuba AGE: CRE DIC05 I think when it comes to sizes the Laguito no.2 and the Corona Gorda are probably my two favorite sizes. I think the Laguito no 2 displays a lot of finesse, and it's long enough to be a great experience of a cigar, and short enough to not need a block of a day to really enjoy it which is the feeling I get when I look at a Laguito no. 1. Pre-light aroma is honeysuckle. I enjoyed this with a cup of Yunnan gold tea. 1/3 Just after lighting I get a flavor I can only describe as "dusty cocoa". It has the Monte cocoa notes but not heavy chocolate, but it shows its age and adds a hint of spice to the mix. A barley note emerges. Smoke production and burn are satisfactory. 2/3 Its starts with the same dusty cocoa note with the cocoa becoming more pronounced and a hint of sweet current on the finish and retrohale. Lonnngggg dusty cocoa finish. The sweet and cocoa notes are a HIT together. The last third begins with the sweet currant note fading and the cocoa note being more pronounced. The sweetness returns in a different way, more graham cracker, and it accompanied by creaminess. SMORES! If I could go back in time... The cigar finished with the cream fading and the hints of currant coming back. It wowed me. All in all this was a cigar that proved worthy of the time it spent in my humidor. It was all class and the flavor progressions were just beautiful. Six out of Six smoke rings. a stellar cigar 9 1
