Popular Post rcarlson Posted May 4, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 4, 2020 The Rio de Seco is a 56 RG monster in the hand, but a tame puppy once lit. I went for the big RG to contrast with the Trini Fundy I had the evening before. Nothing else. I purchased these because they have been pretty well-received around here and. . . what the hell. I prefer the smaller RGs but lookin' for some "strange." Well-constructed, easy draw, good combustion and smoke output. Had this one while talking about nothing and everything with the fellas on Zoom. Might have made it taste better. In a word, "pleasant." Below medium body and strength. Started out (and stayed) with and earthy, cedar, lightly roasted mixed nuts, and leather. Linear, but that's okay. The huge RG made it burn cool; well-rounded. Smoooove (with a "v"). Maybe a little too mild for my ordinarily-mongrel-lovin' @ss, but it's got its time and its place. Chill, slow-smokin', no-need-to-concentrate stick. Last legs develop a little more strength, but still mellow. Roasted nuts predominate. Maybe some time will give it the trademark HDM creaminess, but this one was lacking in that department. Still a good one. All-in-all, the size is a distraction, and I think more concentration from a smaller RG would be a plus. But I have no complaints with the overall smoking experience and wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers. I give her a hard earned B+ 13
Goodfortune Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Thanks for the review. I have a box resting from a 24:24 in March, excited to give one a try after a bit more rest.
Wookie Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Nice review. This sounds like most of my experiences with HdM.
lovethehaze Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 these cigars are great, especially for the golf course.. meaty and a strong build, def not as mongrelish as some but plenty of meat on that bone to satisfy oneself imho. def a step up for my HdM experience. i have few boxes and enjoy them quite a bit. nice review 1
ElJavi76 Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Great review Rob. Meantime I was having my bone dry San Juan. I got a lot more of the cedary sweet notes and less cream than I usually do from an HdM. Tasty nonetheless. That being said there's something missing from this review... Some Spanish Cedar vaneer maybe? I dunno. Can't put my finger on it. ????
StogieSteve23 Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Nice review. I smoked through a box of these last year and enjoyed them. Nice morning cigar (if time permits) for me.

Well, maybe they won't know. But I will. 1
