I’ll soon be establishing a “deeper aging” container, an Iris/ziploc weatherguard 46 quart container. The seal should be good and it will be placed in a cool location.

my question is about the beads. I currently have the heartfelt beads in my Coolidor and they are great. Not cheap but great.

looking around a bit I see the RHShield beads seem to be very similar but around 20% less expensive after shipping for a pound.

anyone switch to the RHShield and have a good or bad experience. I’m leaning towards not messing w a good thing and just go with the heartfelt product I know works well. But all things being equal might try the RHShield.

so, is there a difference other than the cost?

I have not used them. I'm using Heartfelt and HCM Beads and it works great. I might be wrong but i'm pretty sure that a 20% discount on beads is not a lot of money compared to the the value of the cigars you want to protect. My humble advice, don't skimp on beads price.

Just my 2 cents

A piece of advice.

Desiccant products are not programmed. They are all standard industrial (or cheaper quality) desiccants. There is a quality difference in desiccants. Engineered desiccants for industry are used to 'make money.' Therefore the engineered desiccant, at least to industry, represents value in their capacity to bond (whatever the are designed to bond, or catalyze) verses 'generic' desiccants that are not precision made.

Ordering them pre-loaded with water, may seem like a convenience, but it is truly just a way of selling you water... Water, at the cost of the desiccant itself.

If you buy the desiccant dry and condition it yourself, you will get roughly 30% more actual desiccant for free. When I sold these products myself, I always sold them dry...

It is hard to buck the "cigar enthusiast system" and use logic and truth about products over the myth and hype. Take my advice for what it is worth. I would never pay $40.00 per pound for water! But, I know more than most about desiccants.

I think both Heartfelt and RH come dry.

more fundamentally though what do you recommend as a medium to stabilize your coolidors?

Heartfelt is the safe choice. Rock solid in my coolidor. I was curious about other options which is why I posted hoping to find someone w knowledge in the field (this forum never disappoints).

With maybe $5k of cigars in a cooler the extra money for heartfelt is easy, but curious if there is a difference. From your diplomatic post, I will take that as a yes for the RHSHIELD reseller.
