Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted April 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2020 Every cigar has a story, and I will attempt to tell this tale as best that I can... In January '19, some friends and I from the cigar pub in Tampa decided to make the long (50 minute) flight to the promised land. Gathering my limited resources, I climbed aboard the 0700 flight to Jose Marti airport, to begin this adventure. I scrounged about $1200 USD for the trip, but kept $300 in 100 dollar bills stashed in my wallet for emergencies. After checking (leaving) our bags at the Comodoro, we walked over to the LCDH at the Melia Habana to check out the offerings. I was fixated by the 1 box of Trinidad Fundadores that they had, but the day was young, and many more shops to hit and Libre's to drink! To the point, after combing the shops and having perhaps the best Paella on the planet at the Conde Villinueva, we got caught in the only F4 tornado that has ever hit Havana in recorded history. Such is my life. Back at the Comorodo, (with it's windows and doors blown out) me and the lads had a few more Mojitos and called it a night. We had all bought the cigars that we were bringing home, except for me. I wanted to see the one shop we hadn't hit, the one on 16th and 5th... I went into the 5th ave. shop, and ran into Carlos Robaina. I asked his opinion on some sticks, and spent most of my remaining CUC there. Back to the Comodoro to grab our bags, I asked if anyone wanted to go to the Melia Habana for one more look. Only two of us were interested, Myself and Alex, the owner of the cigar pub in Tampa. As I looked longingly at the box of Fundadores, Alex said in his most exaggerated Southern drawl, says " Boy, if you don't bring them home, y'ain't got a hair on yo' a$$!" I checked my wallet, only to discover that I did not have enough CUC to buy the box. After joking out loud to Alex that the only monies I had left were the $300 USD that I had stashed, Jasmine from behind the counter said " we can exchange that right here!" I was thus trapped in peer pressure... Best thing that I have ever done... Here goes: This cigar is brilliant! Coco bean, macadamia nut, smooth tobacco. I'm sorry about stacking the photos, but such are my computer skills. At the quarter turn, still brilliant. Nutty, Dark chocolate. Espresso. Half: I'll bet most of you were wishing that you were me right now... This is just espresso/chocolate/macadamia HEAVEN! Caramel? 3/4: Yep, the best thing that has happened to me in the last week. Final: I had intended on going back to Havana next weekend, primarily to secure more of these. I guess I'll have to trust in FOH supplies. If you see them, get them. What the hell am I saying? These are awful! When Rob puts them up, DON'T BUY THEM!!! Bad, horrible cigars! Just Say No!!! YOU Don't need them! I do... ? 22
Goodfortune Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Nice review and pictures. I have a box on the way from 24:24 and can’t wait to try them!
MasterYotti Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Great review! I have yet to snag a box of these but I need to! Those flavors sound incredible!
BeerPimp Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 I have only had one and it was amazing. Not sure I could go all in on a box but the next time I see these on the 24:24 as PSP or HQ I am going to grab a quarter box.
5thStarChicago Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Those are brilliant. I have a few left from a 16 box, one might get burned today.
Deeg Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Hard to find anyone who doesn't love Fundies. Only smoked one and loved it. Would love to buy more but times are uncertain, can't smoke at home, and most of the places I smoke at are closed - not going through many cigars atm.
joey rockets Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I found a box of these online for $340 so I jumped. I have smoked through several boxes of Reyes but never stepped up to the table on this one.
