Popular Post Wookie Posted April 10, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 10, 2020 Why review a seemingly mundane cigar for such a momentous contest? Fair question. For me, the RAG is a very special cigar. When these are “on”, they start out light bodied, perfect draw and immediately offer floral complexity that makes them, along with RASS, a favorite. That is how this perfect specimen has started. I am smoking this after lunch on Good Friday. The typical light-bodied start to the RAG makes it a great lunch cigar if one has the time to savor it. 2/3 - some nice cocoa notes enter the picture and body starts to hit a subdued medium. I find complexity in RA matches any of the top Marcas and this one is no different. The biggest problem I find with RAG is that they can be tightly rolled....which I find with many Cuban DCs. A good draw tool usually solves the problem with a good 5 minute ream session. During the 2/3 some nuttiness picks up to complement the floral and cocoa notes. 3/3 the body ticks up to solid medium. The palate turns a bit spicy, like switching from a crisp Loire white to Gewurtzraminer. The fruit persists with the satisfying nuttiness becoming prominent. This is how the cigar draws to a close. Such satisfying complexity for me. I rarely rate these less than 90 points. This is a solid 92 as most RA are. Hope everyone gets a chance to experience RAG greatness. Easily a 2 hour+ smoke. Cheers and stay safe brothers and sisters!!! 12

Chibearsv Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I'm not generally an RA fan but I do have an aged box of RAG and your review is spot on. It's a really good cigar. 1
