HarveyBoulevard Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 That’s a shame whatever the cause. Love his music!!! 3
Popular Post Deeg Posted April 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 8, 2020 This one really hurts. I've been listening to his music pretty much nonstop for the last week, dreading this moment. Truly a songwriter's songwriter - a poet and a gentleman. One of the very best ever. We're living through something truly world-altering right now. 6
canadianbeaver Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Been a fan since high school. Seen him live and sing his songs in the shower and everything. Dear Abby Dear Abby... RIP and thanks for this thread. ? CB 1
Skypilot Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I hope he gets that cocktail and cigarette that’s 9 miles long.......RIP 4
busdriver Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Was lucky enough to have parents that introduced me to Prine young and I have been spreading the gospel every since. Great to have people from the last reaching out about moments we hated listening to Prine. Imho one of the best song writers ever. Had to stop listening to Souvenirs a few years ago because it moved me to tears every time, started again last night. 1
Deeg Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Johnny Cash said "He's 24 years old and writes songs like he's 240 years old". Kris Kristofferson said "If he gets any better we might have to break his thumbs." Songwriters know songwriters, and there's no songwriter they revered more than Prine. From Roger Waters to Bob Dylan, across styles, his genius was recognized. And he was an incredibly decent and engaging human being to boot. 4

I can't take it. 1 1
joey rockets Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 He put some of mankind's most depressing moments into music. I can still recall the first time I heard the line 'there's a hole in daddy's arm where the money goes' and pictured the child who stated it. Prine was one of the poets of my generation. 2
RolandHeadlessGunner Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I've been listening to him since his first album came out. He was amazing. May you rest in peace, John Prine. 1

canadianbeaver Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Loved many of his lighter songs too. Oh please don’t bury me Down in the cold cold ground I’d rather have them cut me up and pass me all around. Throw my brain in a hurricane And the blind can have my eyes Throw my mouth way down south And kiss my ass goodbye! (from memory I swear!) ? ? CB 1

ImTripN2 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I am an old woman, named after my mother, my old man is another child that's grown old. If dreams were thunder, lightning was desire, this old house would have burnt down a long time ago. When I was a young girl, I had me a cowboy, he weren't much to look at just a free ramblin' man. But that was a long time, and no matter how I try, the years just flow by like a broken down dam. Make me an Angel that flies from Montgomery, make me a poster from an old rodeo. Just give me one thing that I can hold on to, to believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go. 2
HDGSN Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Hopefully his soul rolled on up to the Rochester Dam
