Kitchen Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I’m waiting on the airport for my flight wondering how easy it is to have a cigar in Sydney, Healeville and Melbourne. Any laws I should be aware of? Is smoking in public exceptable? Thanks in advance.
Habana Mike Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Sorry for your luck. It is difficult down under. There are a minimal few places you may be able to smoke unencumbered. Few and far between... Ozzies will surely guide you.
dimi68 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 In Sydney and rest of NSW most Club's & Pub's have indoor outdoor gaming machine Area's where you can play a pokie machine and still enjoy a smoke and drink at same time. Most have drink service available some large Club's even have a bar and sitting area's in the undercover area. There's no need to gamble if you don't want to. No matter where you cigar smoke in OZ expect to get funny looks. Australia has become a backwater society in last 10 Years. 1
ATGroom Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Melbourne is marginally less restrictive than Sydney, but that's not saying much. No smoking anywhere indoors, or outdoors where food is served. Some bars will have an outdoor 'no food service' area where smoking is allowed. Generally if there is a specific smoking area it will be a little alcove somewhere without seats. No smoking at the airport or train stations. In parks it is still allowed which I don't think is the case in Sydney. Cigars will always get looks, and occasionally will get you shouted at if someone takes offence. No idea specifically about Healesville but it is the same state as Melbourne and most of these laws are state level so I'm going to guess about the same. Has been discussed plenty of times before on here if you would like a list of specifically cigar friendly venues, the best one remains Siglo Bar.
