TTP21 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 My first Epi 2. I've had an EE and a Petit Robusto and neither necessarily blew me away, so my guess initial experience with this Marca leads me to believe I may not love this one. Nearly a year into this CC hobby(addiction?) and I'm getting a good feel for what I like and don't like. Partagas and Bolivar jump to the top, but I've certainly noticed that some vitola within Marca are unique in their flavor delivery. It's with that in mind that I continue to try HdM as I'm not a huge fan of cedar, which I've observed can be prominent in the Marca. On to the review. Burn and construction are good. Sometimes the burn gets wonky, and some harshness for the first half might be due to slight underfilling, but for the most part it's good. Evolution of flavors didn't really happen for me here, so no sense breaking it out in thirds. This Robusto was not too remarkable. Decent cigar, heavy on the wood notes, some coffee undertones, but not much spice or vanilla notes I was hoping to experience. Solid 7/10. I've got one more in the humi, but I think there's so many options in this vitola that I may not be going deep any time soon on the Epi 2. 4
GVan Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Thanks for the review. A little more rest in the humidor should cure the burn issues and some of the first half harshness. I am hopeful because I've got two boxes of REG DIC-18 in the humidor. Haven't tried any of them yet, still letting them rest. Hopefully, the last one in your humidor will be better! Like you, I'm still developing my CC palate and tastes and doing a lot of experimenting. The nice thing about HdM's is they are easy to give away to my friends that smoke cigars if I don't end up loving them.
bbguardsp Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 19s have been almost like a new blend to me. Richer and more complex. My SEP 18s are similar to yours.
