La Gloria Cubana Serie D No .5 (ER ESPAÑA 2017) - SMA DIC 17 (ARW)

So I snagged a box of these while in Spain 1-2ish years ago. Think I paid 90 euro for the box. They've been sitting there untouched until now. Decided to whip them out for this review as the LGC N4 is still kicking around, and this seemed more interesting. Glad I did! 

Dry pull.

On first appearance these look not the cleanest. Rough wrapper. Cold draw taste dry and a little like cedar/hay.  

 

1/3 third

Surprising amount of pepper on first light. Punched me on my first retro way more than expecting Hay, lots of heat on the retro. Sweetness in the background. the pepper died off pretty quick and let me explore some of the hay/touch of cream in these. 

2/3 third. 

Starts to bring that cream note a little more into the foreground. Seems to coat the mouth a bit. At first I wasn’t sure but this thing is bang on a great stick at this point. I like the LgC taste but this format lends well to it. Glad I got a box. Draw has been excellent so far. A little resistance. Cedar/hay play with the cream. 

3/3 third 

Creams now in the foreground and hay on the backend. It’s smoothed out here a lot...if you guys got some...smoke em now. Leathery cream into the end of the smoke. Towards the end here it got a little hot but DAMN is it going great...should I snag some more boxes? 

Conclusion 

Draw was excellent. Easy with slight resistance. Smoke output was great. Flavors were right in my wheelhouse. Burn time was dead on 1 hour to the minute.

Thanks for the review. I have a box in the mail I’m splitting w a buddy here. Only 5 sticks for me, so good to know they should be ready to go once acclimated.

Yea I damn near forgot about them, glad I broke them out. I think I'll burn the rest of them over the next few months. I couldn't see them gaining anything. No elbows at all. Generally for me if I am burning my lips on it, all the edges are gone and its time to put them all to fire.

I will admit I actually didn't have as high a hopes for this box when I got them.

I think they’re great - bought a box and then 2 more after I’d tried them. Lovely, easy, fun smoke.
