DeeBeezy Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Just curious.. what are some of you favourite Edition Regionales from Europe the last 3/4 years? I loved both the JL punt and QD capitol from France 2018....highly anticipating the punch Mantua
NSXCIGAR Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 I would think the LGC Orgullosos, PL Coronas and LFDC Robustos have been among the standouts. The LE Don Jose might squeak in from 2016.
rascalmonkey Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 not impressed by the LGC Serie D5 Espana ? 1
GavLew79 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Bit further back but the Por Larrañaga Sobresalientes (2014 UK) were bloody fantastic. As were the Boli Belgravia, and LFDC one. Can't remember the name. Qd'O Robustos Diplomaticos are not quite ready. Well, my Maduro wrapper ones aren't.
DeeBeezy Posted February 23, 2020 Author Posted February 23, 2020 Belgravia is one of my favourite cigars ever.. bought a box a great price back in the day, can’t bring myself to crack into it. Picked up a single of the PL Sobrasalientes and don jose last week, very much looking forward to trying them. 1
BrightonCorgi Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Every regional that Italy has ever released. 2

That PL was one of the best cigars I've ever smoked. I wish that I could have found more of them.

I would agree, but had heard some very mixed things about the Casanovas... Aside from that, no doubt Italy's batting average is among the highest. The Punch Superfinos and LESF are legends. The one I know the least about is the ERDM Torpedos. I can't recall hearing anything about it. On 2/24/2020 at 8:40 AM, rascalmonkey said: not impressed by the LGC Serie D5 Espana ? That one seems to be one of the biggest busts in recent memory. Bad review after bad review. Vendors have been blowing them out cheap for over a year and stock is still high, although a review posted here today was very positive--perhaps these are coming around after 2-3 years?

I had one gifted to me and loved it so I bought up 5 boxes. The next one I had was awful. It's one of the few ERs that I am willing to afford. Italy is about to hit the biggest homerun ever with the new 50 cab of skinnies. I really hope Rob gets a few mastercases but I doubt it.

I really hope Rob gets a few mastercases but I doubt it. Italy ERs are among the toughest to source due to Italy's prohibition on exporting tobacco. Rob won't see any for retail since he gets 100% of his stock from PCC. I'm sure they'll pop up at the Swiss vendors at a significant markup, particularly since the run is an above average 125,000 sticks in a 50 cab format. I would expect the world price to be approaching $1,000 after markups. The good news is that they should be plentiful in Italy for at least 6-12 months at no markup. You just have to get there. If these are good cigars I would certainly expect these to be an ER to seek out, although the production numbers and format scare me a bit. If it were more in line with, say, the PL Coronas at 80,000 sticks in 50 cabs, I would say slam dunk. It's got everything going for it otherwise--50 cabs, classic vitola, special bands. I expect it will do well but might take longer than the PL Coronas which was a smashing success and became very difficult to find within only 3-6 months.

Tstew75 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Stretching it to 5 years: LGC Orgullosos LGC 5ta Avenida Boli Short Bolivar Andorra 1
encephalization Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Guess my palate is poor or I've gotten some decent LGC Serie D5s. They haven't been bad. Sweet and spice. I wouldn't put them among the best Euro REs in recent years but.. The Casanova on the other hand, not a big fan. Something that hasn't been mentioned is the RA XXL. Hands down my favorite European RE from the past four years, maybe even my favorite RE from the past four years period (maybe).
Cubadust Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Agree on the LGC Serie D5s, I've never had a bad one. And I've never really read any bad reviews either, more like in the ok to great-ish range. My favorite is still the Saint Luis Rey Tesoro, also from Spain. One of my favorite cigars ever. The boxes I've got are phenomenal.
Puros Y Vino Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I love the LGC Invictos. I don't chase too many RE's otherwise. I do look forward to getting my hands on some Mantuas though.
GasGuy82 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Juan Lopez Malecon from Andorra are without a doubt the most consistent and tastiest regional from Europe I've had in the past few years. Early LEDJ were delicious as well, but lately have been really disappointing to me, to the point I've been moving on some boxes.
DeeBeezy Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 had one of my friends in the cigar industry tell me JL are always his favourite regionals...the ones I get most excited for are Bolivar regionals
