zigarrenziggy Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 As seems to be customary, and at the very least appreciated, I wanted to introduce myself before I begin my journey through the forums that make up this great website. I am a 25-year old cigar smoker currently residing in Metro Atlanta with my girlfriend and overly-hyper and increasingly exhausting Husky. My journey with cigars began like many others: sneaking out with some friends at 17 to smoke whatever our older compatriots were able to source from a local gas station. As with most of my recreational pursuits, I tend to become a bit of an obsessive, digesting hours upon hours of information that most would find trivial and boring. Our local B&M was a community staple, supplying the the business-men and -women from the local economic powerhouse with a fine, if not limited, selection of cigars to satisfy and whet my palate for more: Fuente Hemingways, Upmann Bankers, Montecristo New York's, etc. A fine selection for an 18-year old with barely enough money to afford gas to make it to the shop. I took a hiatus from cigars as my life began to become more and more hectic. Recently, as my career in the growing tech and software scene of Atlanta has taken shape, cigars and pursuits that have fallen by the wayside have reemerged with a vengeance. I have immersed myself completely in the pursuit of cigars and what they have to offer, whether be relaxationPhotos.app.zip after a long day at work, or to identify the subtle nuances offered by the many marcas from Habanos. To say that I am obsessed would probably be an understatement. Since discovering FOH, I have been consumed by the immense knowledge that flows freely from the minds of members much more experienced than I. To say that that I wish to have half as much knowledge someday would be a pipe-dream. I look forward to exploring all that Cuba and the humble tobacco leaf has to offer. For now, my plan for 2020 is to discover as much as I can about as many brands and lines as I can. I currently have resting (90 days to be sure, which began in the first 1/3 of January): 2x Monecristo Especial (I am rather taken by the format, ie. Lancero/Laguito No 1) 1x Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial 1x H Upmann Magnum 46 1x Trinidad Reyes 1x Partagas Serie D No 4 1x Ramon Allones Specially Selected With a delivery from our gracious host and his discerning eye that is offered up on 24:24 arriving Tuesday: 12x Por Larranaga Petit Coronas 6x H Upmann Connie 1s 6x RyJ Churchills 1x Cohiba Siglo I 1x Hoyo de Monterrey Epi 1 Any recommendations that you may have for sampling, I welcome with open arms. For now and the foreseeable future, I will continue to purchase quarter boxes of PSP/HQ on 24:24 so that I may find what we are all looking for: our own perfect cigar.
