Hmm... If decent cigar becomes overpriced, I'll not definitely buy it for sure. Based on Ken's RyJ Maravillas review, I'd rather get other cigars such as Montecristo 1935 Leyenda and Partagas Lusitanias than this overpriced decent cigar. Keep it up Kenny!

One suspects that we’ll see more of these, rather than less, in the coming years. Cue a long, slow, sad sigh.

May never happen, of course, and even if it does it will simply mean that some buyers get caught with perfectly decent cigars for which they paid too much. Worse things happen.

Some classic lines. Well done Ken, I had a smile for the whole read.

Nice review Ken.  I think the market agrees with you.  I have already seen the price on these drop at one vendor to $450 US.  I almost bought them, until I realized that they are only 1 row of 8 instead of 2 rows of 8 like they had done with past boxes.  Quite a bit to pay for 8 RyJs.  If you told me it tasted like the best RyJ Churchill you ever smoked, I might consider it, but any less than that, I’ll pass.

I would also add that in 2019, The year of the pig, in addition to the Cohiba Robustos as you mentioned, they also made Cohiba Siglo IV’s.  Both were boxes of 2 rows of 8 cigars per row.

Bummed you weren't more inspired by them.  I won a box in the x-mas comp.  They're beautiful and the aroma was like a meal in itself.  It'll be awhile before give one a test drive, and that'll be the one that was damaged (split at the head and some tears near the foot, but hardly tragic given that I didn't pay the big $$ these are commanding and was reparable).  I'll be on the lookout for your next try at the Maravillas.  There's almost no worthwhile reviews that I can find on the interwebs.  I know you calls 'em likes you sees 'em.

my review based on one cigar - notoriously unreliable. and even if it turns out to be accurate, they are not bad cigars. i'd happily take a free box.

I just got my winnings the other day. The presentation is absolutely gorgeous. The cigars themselves look good, packed very well. The aroma was very pungent. I will put up a review once I try one. I will let them rest at least a month.

Indeed.  Mine arrived about 3 1/2 weeks ago.  Had that heavy, warm, sweet bready aroma.

Some might find the red lacquered box, sleeve and footband kinda garish, but I think the whole presentation is unique and cool.  I think it has a magnetic lid lock.  Haven't seen that before -- but there again I've never bought a special box like these.  I've decided to keep the cello peel on for now -- guessing it scratches easily or it wouldn't be needed.

Gonna be a good bit longer than a month before I give one a go.  Was thinking maybe a year, if my impatient ass can hold out that long.

Look forward to your thoughts when you decide the time is right to fire one up.
