Connoisseur Kim Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Is it okay to use tupperdor without hygrometer? I added 320g Boveda pack to my tupperdor few days ago in order to replace 60g Boveda pack. I found that tupperdor and Boveda 320g pack would be fine without any hygrometer (I use it as travel and small desktop humidor). Any opinion?
WalterG Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I would add one just to see the temp and also peace of mind that the seal isn’t leaking. It’s always good to see the rh imo. I would get a boveda butler or even a caliber iv. They can be had for ~$20 in the states online. 1

I will add SensorPush Sensor if I put hygrometer to my tupperdor. However, the Korean Radio Waves Acts (strictly applies to the electronic products with WiFi and Bluetooth features) prohibits me to obtain more than one SensorPush Sensor. I can get three SensorPush Sensors by asking my mom and lil sis for Coolidor setup, but I'm not sure about 4th Sensopush Sensor for tupperdor. 1
Rupe Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 You should be fine with just the Boveda alone. If things do get too dry, you will be able to tell because the Boveda will start to get "Crunchy". As long as the seal is good on your container this will not happen though. I have some Bovedas in well sealed containers that have not dried out, even after 5 years. You can trust the Bovedas to do their job. Also, for the size of the container you are showing, one or two 60 gram packets would be sufficient. It never hurts to have more than you need though. 1

I agree Boveda packs works really well with high efficiency in sealed storage mediums like tupperdor even w/o hygrometer. Also, my tupperdor is made by Lock & Lock, the prestigious tupperware manufacturer; so, I don't worry about leaking issue too much. I also agree there is no too many Boveda packs (more packs reduce stress applied to Boveda packs), and my previous 60g pack is still in function even after a year later (I really like the powerful performance of 320g pack, so this is the reaon why I added 320g pack to my tupperdor). 1
