Our flight here was surprisingly 3/4 full. It’s gonna be an interesting couple of weeks, until we find out which way this will go. Curious to hear how things went on your trip. I’m supposed to go in a week.

I've been here since Thursday and things are pretty much normal as far as I can tell. Thursday night was really quiet, Miramotos in the MGM was empty, and you don't often see 4 Sushi Chefs standing still with their arms folded across their chests! Friday was busier, Downtown was packed yesterday like usual and last night looked like a normal Sat night... we went to see Chicago at the Venetian and the auditorium was full. Gaming tables were full, restaurants and bars not so much. Haven't seen a single mask.

NSXCIGAR Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 With the news out of Italy this weekend I guess it just got a lot tougher for anyone to get their hands on the Punch ManTua...
Cigar Surgeon Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 The run on toilet paper is truly bizarre. Here's what it looked like at the grocery stores I visited yesterday:
Deeg Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Every place I check here is totally out. Managed to score some off Amazon.jp by getting lucky and checking when they got a couple back in stock (one sold out while it was in my cart).
SmokyFontaine Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 The TP thing is just baffling. Like, of all the things humanity needs. Not to get too graphic, but for much of the world, some quality bidet work, or my personal favorite, the flushable wet wipe is really the lifesaver! Stock up on those. One unintended benefit of slowly healing up from what I suspect was the virus...my cigars are all getting a two week rest and can go to sleep at night without fear of one of their brothers vanishing the next day. Just glad this hit when it's still pretty chilly and rainy here. If I was taking a 2-3 week break during optimal smoking time, I'd really be ticked!

I havent done a lot of research on the matter, but I no longer chance it and make sure everyone who enters my house knows there only 3 things that get flushed, and they all start with P.Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk 1

Deeg Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Also flushable wet wipes are sold out everywhere here too. ? Hong Kong is an interesting test case. Took a lot of heat for seeming overreaction when they had relatively few cases - closing schools for months, banning all public gatherings, mandated work from home for many. But the numbers out of there suggest it did exactly what it was intended to do. And as a side benefit, it totally wiped out their flu season. 2

OZCUBAN Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 No problem here yet (West coast OZ) apart from a severe lack of toilet paper WTF ,the media and social media are to blame for this for revving all this fear up
Cigar Surgeon Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Well this wasn't a great morning in the markets. Takes me back to 1991 which was not a great time. 1

Costco was limiting to 2 things of TP. And everyone had 2 things of TP on their carts. So, yes, my wife grabbed 2 things of TP, not running out of heinie wipes here! Seriously.....wtf people..... And sales for ,40 caliber Smith & Wesson ammunition went up 400%. You have to be able to protect that toilet paper. 1 1
SenorPerfecto Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Panic due to a temporary health crisis, which will adversely affect supply chain, travel, and manufacturing... for a little while. THEN all of those things will go into overdrive to make up for the deficit. Sounds like a perfect time to pick up some bargains... 2

I can report how impressed I was with the measures casinos were taking wiping things down, with lots of staff dedicated to just that task. Escalators, doors, railings and machines - quite impressive and we could do more of this at the airlines. 1

Not so sure this will be over in a little while.

Italy is under quarantine for about a month. Which means that's more time than they expect it to remain a threat to the country. It's also less time than I have until retirement. Put those together, yeah, it's time to buy!
El Presidente Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 I had a note that a members dad (67) passed away from CV Let's keep in mind that this is affecting real people. 3 1
saintsmokealot Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Unfortunately the CV is why I couldn't meet up in Miami with everyone. Our trip to Italy was cut short and I thought I could make it however we have put ourselves in self quarantine. BTW we had to cut the short trip bc we were flying direct home from Milan and all flights were cancelled as no AA flight crews would fly to Milan and our hotel in Florence (on the way to Milan) closed down and try to put us in a sister property. 1
