Ever since being introduced to the world of cigars, I’ve had this infatuation with Cubans. Being new to the world of CCs, I’ve often wondered what activities I’d enjoy doing or what events I’d enjoy attending which are centered around CCs. One of my goals is to make it out to the Habanos Festival once in my life and enjoy the whole enchilada including the seminars, rolling classes, tastings and, of course, the gala.

What are a few of y’alls bucket list items which you hope to one day enjoy?

Yes, display humidor is also on my list. In fact, I am starting to think about its design as I am building a new home.

Get to the Festival.

Build my own cabinet humidor.

For those wanting to get to Cuba for only one event I'd recommend the Partagas Encuentros in November over the February Habanos festival.

Especially the even years when Rob and the gang are down. It is more oriented to the smokers than the business types and a lot of fun!

Retire to a farm in Pinar del Rio. Keep a house in Havana. Maintain foreign income. Spend hurricane season in Europe.

Or, less idealistically,

Bring a group of non-cigar friends, old friends, to Cuba to show them what I've been talking about for 10 years. I'm very glad my wife and kids came with me last year.

That is worth doing once. Once is all you need. The gala dinner itself is interesting but it isn't fun usually, unless you're lucky with the table. It is usually interesting though.

The seminars etc. Once is all you need for that lot, unless you're in the industry, and even then it's debatable.

Worth seeing once though.

You'd be better off squeezing in as many visits to farms, factories, escogidos etc. you can, with a good guide. 2-3 nights on a tobacco farm at planting or harvesting time and you'll learn a whole lot.

That’s good to know. When I put more thought into the Gala itself, it seems as though I’d need money and the ability to speak Spanish to really enjoy it. “Seems” is the key word there since I have no experience. I’d prefer to mingle with the common folk and learn the ins and outs of the farming side. Another consideration I have is my wife and I are teetotalers. Non-drinking activities is where you’d find us so the focus would be on tours, rolling lessons, and seminars. I hear Cuba is beautiful and the snorkeling is great.

For years I have been threatening to make an HMI control, modular walk-in humidor and wine storage controller. The idea was to make it a setup that one could take to room that one wanted to convert, mount it on the wall, daisy-chain control boxes with CAT 5, plug stuff in and let it go. I even thought that all the items connected via Blue Tooth would be pretty cool. I just don't have the time to do the designing and then the programming for the PLC and HMI. I had a mockup sitting on my desk for a year and finally had to move it.

As HMI's get smaller and cheaper, eventually I will just have to do it...! In the next life!

As @Ryan has mentioned above, forget the Festivals and the Galas, unless you want to go broke and come back home as ignorant about cigars as you went in.

And you wouldn't need to speak Spanish at the Galas, majority being foreigners, but maybe it helps you get better/faster service at the table ...

For you to "mingle with the common folk and learn the farming side" the last thing you need is any of the Festivals - believe me.

From someone who's done 8-10 Festivals and speaks Spanish.

Besides what's been mentioned, I would like to shop/visit most of the world's best cigar shops and cigar friendly spots worth checking out.

If somebody is interested in some nice Cuba ?? cufflinks, just pm me. A8C943B1-A47C-476A-8679-9AEA62E36D75.thumb.jpeg.7a8025a4f1be79e1e00dc5bbcde53fae.jpeg

Those are pretty cool, are they antique, or made to look that way? Cigar Sanctum is THE go to for cigar related jewelry/embellishments. John personally gifted me the Cuff Links below 2 minutes after we met. Great guy, great company, great quality and not just Partagas, but General Cuba/cigar related Items as well. I wear mine as often as I can and they've held up great for the last 3 years or so. I think Rob still wears his red "Partagas Band" ring too.

It is an old technique of porcelain painting. Only 2 people in Germany still practice this unique technique.
Each colour is burned separately in a blast furnace. The porcelain disc is edged with 18k gold. The lower part is in silver. Size is about thumbnail size.

Piggy's PLC to keep his walkin at 65F and 62rH. Lol

It's actually built for Nike to grind returned shoes into playground mulch. The warehouse had accumulated over 25% of its space to hold these shoes and there were over 100 semi trailers in the lot full of grind material as well. We couldnt have finished the job soon enough.

Guest appearance on FOH Video review helping Rob take potshots at Ken while drinking his booze.

And that would complete my bucket list.
